Earlier this year I was in Amsterdam and visited the STRAAT Museum, aka the graffiti museum. It was inspirational seeing such a wide variety of large-format artworks and left me feeling like there was more I wanted to explore with another graffiti VJ pack. For me the Flux 1 still feels like the most flexible and imaginative model for my abstract usage, especially with the amazing assortment of existing LoRAs to play with and combine together. So I reached out to Palpa to see if he could help me out with the LoRA creation process. I realized that I had a wildstyle graffiti dataset already and so I further curated that into a closeup graffiti dataset and a wide angle graffiti dataset, which Palpa then trained into 2 different LoRAs. Seeing as how Palpa and I are both obsessed with graffiti, Palpa thoughtfully created 5 other LoRAs using some datasets which he has created for other creative projects. Major props to Palpa for sharing these extra LoRAs, they ended up being clutch in making wildstyle graffiti with an abstract 3D vibe. Now to bring the graffiti to life within After Effects. I tried loads of different ideas and finally was pleased with how the CC Lens FX looked when the Size attribute was keyframed, along with the Turbulent Displace FX layered on top with the Amount attribute keyframed over time and the Evolution attribute constantly changing and used the Offset attribute as a way to hacky way to set the seed. Then I keyframed the Scale attribute of the graffiti in tandem with the CC Lens FX. Added a drop shadow to each piece via the Shadow Studio 3 FX to help the overlapping graffiti have a sense of depth. All of that combined to make for some melty liquidy graffiti that I was happy with. From there I wanted to add a bit more spice and so I used the Vectory FX to add trails that would automatically trace out animations, along with Deep Glow FX to make it glow at 50% threshold so that it would only affect the brighter trails. #graffiti #streetart #flux #vjloops #aescripts
