@DoctorNike @lowcarbGP Thank you :) My levels are not as low as I'd hoped considering the amount of exercise I do (usually every day) and how strict I am with the diet. I'll talk to my GP about at least reducing the Metformin. I'm a strange case so perhaps it's not doing all that much anyway?

Forty days ago, I began a low-carb no-sugar diet as an experiment. My blood sugar used to hover around 10 mmol/l – now 7 mmol/l (HbA1c 60 to 45). Nobody gave me guidance so I found it myself. Thank you @lowcarbGP. Started a diet, gained a lifestyle. More: phcuk.org

The most ridiculous feedback I've ever received, in this case for a test translation: "Passable but not very accurate, but what the translator has put is in many cases what one would expect a document like this to actually say." Plus comments arguing for word-for-word renditions.

@i_budzynska Well, quite 😂 You'd argue that was the point of a translation! They're saying I didn't use EXACTLY the same words as the French source. I told the agency every comment makes me question the reviewer's translation skills.

@ajctranslate I do not understand what else you were supposed to do 😂 ( but I guess I don’t know the context)

@ajctranslate Sadly, staff numbers in my local Coop have been cut so far that the self service checkout is often the only viable option unless you’re prepared to wait and wait.

I don't need a robotic arm to fill up my car. I don't want to read content written by a machine. I hate chatting to customer service bots. I avoid self-checkouts. What is wrong with the world? What is wrong with human? The only new tech I want is a time machine. Grump grump grump

@ValerieOurset Chatting to a human is absolutely fine, chatting to an AI bot has been pointless and unhelpful every single time, in my experience. I see your point about some of these advances helping people who need it gain some independence, though – that's definitely a good reason for them.

@DalesTranslator I don't actually own a car, but a video about a robotic arm popped up somewhere and I'm just baffled that anyone is wasting time, energy and money on it.

@ajctranslate Agreed on all counts. It’ll be a long time until anyone invents a robotic arm that can fill up my motorbike. Fiddly enough with two functioning human arms!

Word of Christmas Day, as always, is ‘confelicity’: joy in the happiness of others. The fellow emotion to ‘compassion’, literally ‘a suffering with’. Wishing you confelicity aplenty this Christmas.

@OffsideOlivier Sixteen years old, briefly back in Poland after five years in Belgium and soon to move to Estonia. Two years before my youngest sister's accident that changed our lives forever. I miss being that carefree.

Christmas 2003, we had just left Ireland for Tahiti. And someone wasn’t happy about being introduced to the South Pacific mosquitoes. Where were you 20 years ago?

@ajctranslate I’m with you on this one. I always date mind and write something personal. A chance for connection and a minute to reflect on the relationship as well.

I don't understand people who just write 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy birthday' in a card and nothing else. Seriously, why even bother at that point? What a wasted opportunity to write something personal, meaningful, sweet or funny. It doesn't even have to be long. Make it count!
