It’s amazing what a well-executed vision for a community golf course can become. The Park strived to be a gathering place for golfers and families. Here it is at 6:15 on a Wednesday night. This is an example of what public golf can be for a community.

I’ve had the pleasure of assisting @Mike_kim714 with his training for the last 18 months or so. Mike has gotten much stronger and gained ~10lbs in this time frame. We’ve had 3 main areas of focus: 1️⃣ Increase size and strength of the fast twitch muscle fibers with pretty traditionial strength training methods 🏋️. Compound lifts, heavy 5 rep sets. 2️⃣ Practice swinging faster with a radar for feedback, both with @TheStackSystem and hitting balls with driver. How much of each adjusts based on the time of season 🏌️‍♂️. 3️⃣ Ensure nutrition supports the goal of muscle growth and recovery from golf & training. It is very common for tour players to underfuel and lose weight as the season goes on. They have a very high level of energy expenditure from all of the practice, play, and training, so need a lot of food 🍱. Mike is now much more physically capable of higher speeds than previous years. I expect and hope to see a nice little bump in speed as the season goes on. At this level, a 3-4mph gain in club head speed is enormous, and that is what we are targeting! This training speed of 121mph below will hopefully be 123-125mph in the coming weeks, allowing comfortable 118mph or so on the course in tournament play.

One of my favorite topics. Because fittings focus on 1 club, companies focus on winning 7i distance. 6i+ get jammed together, and “gap” wedges needed at the bottom. 4i becomes difficult to hit (because it’s like an old school 2i) Ways to combat this: 1. Play solid body irons if you can stomach shorter distance. They tend to start with weaker “traditional” lofts. 2. Or, ask for any set to be bent to equal loft gaps. I think 4° gaps are great. Many sets look like the image below - why 3-3-4-4-5-5 gaps? Seems silly. It’s a product of the 7i wars. Tailor to your preference, but something like this would be my advice for loft targets: Solid. Players Distance P - 48. 46 9 - 44. 42 8 - 40. 38 7 - 36. 34 6 - 32. 30 5 - 28. 26 4 - 24. 22 Disclaimer: Bending far from stock will mess with your bounce angle, so I wouldn’t go more than 2~3° either way on loft.

The best value I can provide here is: 1. Help you fit yourself 2. Help you navigate an equipment purchase 3. Prep you for a proper fitting (save you from common $ traps) 4. Help you wade thru this year’s batch of marketing I’m up having a coffee ☕️. Let’s hear em’.

After 7 incredible years, I’m leaving Astranis. Hell of a run! I’m proud to have helped us scale up to: ‣ 500 people ‣ >$1B of in sales ‣ 5 satellites on orbit ‣ 150,000 sq ft of factory space And I am SO stoked to watch Astranis scale to 20+ satellites launching every year… there's truly nothing else like building a physical object for years, strapping it to a ROCKET, and blasting it into space. I'll remember those launches forever. (And the hotels in Cocoa Beach... because that's were we found out we were having our first baby, pregnancy test at the Marriott haha.) The thing I’ll remember most, though, is the team. So many people helped us build Astranis — from the execs, to the engineers who became team leads, to my Finance and External Relations teams, to our alumni: founders, filmmakers, Hill staffers, future congressmen, and more. I’ll announce what’s next for me soon… it's something totally different. (Not a startup!) But for now: Astranis rules. I’m so proud of the team, I sincerely believe Astranis will have a huge impact on the world, and I'm honored that @Gedmark trusted me and gave me a chance to help him build a company and team that I love.

Too early, first Monday after Jan 1 will be the big rush. Won’t really slow down until mid Feb from what I remember. Happy New Year!

Legitimate question for people working in tech or VC If the acquihire trend continues from big tech, what is the incentive for early stage employees to work for startups? They are taking all the risk, but bearing none of the rewards. Good for founders, bad for employees
