I tend to agree; it feels slow bc the gap between functional MVP and production ready software has never been wider - you can make the thing do the thing in seconds now, but it still takes time to get quality, consistent code that won't slow you down in the future. This is changing quickly though

we're looking for remarkable talent
$120k start + early equity
we're building a new category of advertisement across B2B and CPG (think ads you can talk to).
team of 6 - ai native - angel funded after 1y of bootstrapping - incubated via venture studio - immediate access to 700+ ICP merchants.

@Emily_Sundberg I can literally hear the Hardy's commercials between these songs on the radio
English

@Seanfrank The volume opportunities are unbelievable and the market asymmetry between what these creators are willing to earn and the value to a brand are wild.
The main question - if following/persona isn't important, how long until AI becomes good enough?

There is an active winning playbook for brands right now:
- go hard on tik tok shop
- this means running the platform at 1x ROAS or less
- literally losing money to get products in people’s hand
- tons of creators, none of them famous, making dozens of videos a day
- pay commission and % of ad spend
- put spend behind the videos everywhere
- capture the demand on your website, wholesale, Amazon, everywhere
- scale more doors and more products while losing money on tik tok
Same playbook as before, except:
Understand you will lose money on a channel basis for tik tok
Understand you need to be winning over creators and coaching them
Understand the ads need to be ported everywhere

Reviewing some whitelisting/ partnership ads data:
- 40% of our account is partnership ads
- The cohort of creators who post organically/ sponsored on IG
outperforms UGC only. There might be other factors but it’s essentially “free” whitelisting because we can run the sponsored program at breakeven at least and then get “free” ad rights for 30 days on all of it.
- Had our first big win with a “macro” creator. Going to do much more of this; likely will test 1-3 macros per each launch.
- want a combo of sizes; performance is not directly correlated to size. (That’s what she said). But larger accounts can crush and drive great net new reach, even if in platform metrics are not great.
- We’re launching a Haus test to see if there is a higher incrementality factor on these; my hypothesis is we can run partnership at a 40% lower 1DC than BAU assets
- We launch all concepts in ABO; guarantee $1k spend and we’ll begin scale up if leading indicators look good within 2 days.
- We’ll scale up a few different ways depending on how good performance is, how big of a bet we wanna take, and how much we spent on the content
- I don’t wanna say it’s perfect but I do think we’ve “cracked” this program after probably 6-9 months of work. Now it’s time to really scale and take some bigger bets.
- Out next need is to crack and scale non-partnership creator ad funnels. Traditional DR “UGC” has never worked for us. We’re taking a confined organic/ paid creative strategy now and launching this new program in Jan.
AMA about this. What questions do you have?

hiring for a frontend / design engineer may be one of my most challenging recruits thus far.
$140-180k remote w/ NYC + LA HQs. Early role equity offering & ownership over our design patterns.
the difference between good and great in this field keeps coming down to ease-of-communication and their willingness to break existing conventions.
which is harder to find mostly because the off-the-shelf tools make everyone seem worth talking to, but hasn't been that compelling in my 5 weeks looking.

@connorrolain @hexclad @dersss has always said that keeping a team together is the best competitive advantage you can have. We've had 3 people leave voluntarily in almost 5 years and one was to start a company. It's been huge for us
English

I’m always shocked when I see people bopping around multiple agencies, brands, etc. in a short amount of time.
I feel like we’re just starting to fire on all cylinders @hexclad , and I’m in my third year full time, fourth year total working on the brand.
It takes time to do great marketing, build effective systems, get in a groove in working w people. and it compounds!
never understood seeing people bopping around between 5 different jobs in 2-3 years, i find it hard to believe you get ever reach full output in such a short amount of time.

@HarryStebbings Please forward all of those pitiful TTDD companies you’re passing on to me 🤝
