I’ll tell you this… there’s a whole bunch of us that’s realllll tired of being treated like a 3rd class patron when it comes to carrying a guitar/instrument on a plane when there is: A.) an open closet B.) room in the overheads No, I don’t care about having room for “roller bags.” Sorry, but I really could care less considering I pay more to be on the plane as early as I can and when I have to put my $3k piece of gear (that happens to be my lifeline for supporting myself on said trip) under the plane, the picture below is what’s at risk. So, what then after the “oops, we’re sorry,” I’m supposed to go play 3 shows like this every time? This is what you risk when you think you’re just making me “put it under the plane” to “save space.” Full disclosure: THIS IS 1 YEAR OLD PIC. No, it did not just happen, yes it was detuned, I’m just using it as reference for the principle of the matter. With that said, they (@americanair) admitted fault and they made it right quickly, which I appreciate, but it doesn’t change the fact that they put me in the situation. Why I bring this up is I’m am sick and damn tired of being looked at cross eyed when I bring my guitar on board, which is what just happened in DFW (once again, happens on a weekly basis) and where is the guitar now? Under the plane. What is the closet? Wide open. What the hell else am I supposed to do? Drive everywhere instead? Buy I new guitar everywhere I go? You tell me airline carriers bc apparently you got this figured out for everyone BUT us artists. Moral of the story. Section 403 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act. Just read it and then read it again. It’s 2024, grow up, looking at you @AmericanAir. While they’re at it, you should probably take another look at it too @delta, @united (we already learned you break guitars years ago so a refresher wouldn’t hurt), and @SouthwestAir.
