In August 2021, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned the $16 million Weddi Africa Tomato Processing Factory in Domfete, Berekum (Bono Region). The factory was established to reduce tomato imports and create value addition with the introduction of the tomato mix brand “Sweet Mama.” The tomato factory, just like other defunct factories established by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has been shut down because the country is not producing enough tomatoes to feed the plant’s 40,000-metric-ton annual capacity. Ghana excels in enacting policies and initiating highly promising projects for economic development, but our main problem is that there is a weak culture of maintaining and sustaining these projects over time. “Sweet Mama” could have been a post-harvest mitigation strategy to incentivize the use of tomato waste, but the products were not properly marketed because the factory lacked a clear long-term sustainability plan. As a country, why do we even start what we cannot finish? That is not only counterproductive, but it also shows that in our policy decisions, we lack foresight and the right thinking to make systems work.

This is how food is wasted in our markets. Our small holder farmers always face a glut and food spoilage after harvest due to almost zero storage facilities and processing factories. Meanwhile we are a food in-secure country with many going to bed hungry. Hon @EricOpokuMP what are we doing as a country towards zero food waste? #ZeroWasteDay

This is a fallacy that was adopted by Ga traditional rulers during colonization & after independence. The Ga people are not from Ile Ife, Israel, Chad, Egypt, etc. These are outdated & unsubstantiated claims that need to die in 2026.
Aare kurunmi kakanfo@AKakanfo

We have Hausas in Ghana who also came during this period and they are Ghanaians. The Tabooms and Brimahs are proud Yorubas even the Ga people have the same Ile Ife heritage as the Brimahs. We have Yorubas in Ghana. Have a great day.

🚨 Barça president Laporta: “All La Liga clubs face very strict economic control”. “We'll achieve revenues of 1.1 billion euros, more than expected. This will help us a lot in obtaining the fair play needed to make signings”, told Mon Esport.

Who decided there should be 54 African countries? Why is Africa under the financial control of WTO, World Bank, and IMF? Why is Africa under the legal control of ICC and ICJ? Why does Africa bow to unelected officials in the United Nations? Who is the Architect of this Game?

My brother, let me break it down for you like this. No African decided we should have exactly 54 countries. It was the European powers who sat down in Berlin in 1884 and 1885 and sliced up our continent like it was their own property. They drew those fake borders with zero Africans in the room. When independence came, our own leaders kept those same colonial lines instead of uniting. That is why Africa is still divided into 54 weak pieces today. As for the IMF, World Bank and WTO those were created in 1944 by the Americans and British while most of Africa was still under colonial rule. Our real leaders were not invited, they had no seat at the table. These institutions were built to maintain Western control after colonialism ended. They replaced the whip and the chain with debt, loans and harsh conditions that keep us exporting raw materials cheap and buying finished goods expensive. It is not development, it is control. Pure neocolonialism. The ICC and ICJ? Same trick. They call it international law but it is mostly used to hunt African leaders while Western countries do whatever they want. It is selective justice designed to keep our leaders scared and obedient. And why do we bow to unelected people in the United Nations? Because the whole system was designed by the same former colonizers. The powerful countries still control the real decisions in the Security Council. We are just playing in their game with their rules. The architect of this whole game? It is the Western powers especially America and the old European empires. They made sure that even after slavery and colonialism officially ended, Africa would still remain under their financial, legal and political dominance. This was not built to help us. It was built to dominate us forever. Until we wake up, expose it, reject the debt traps and start building our own systems, we will continue to be slaves in new clothes. Africa must rise. Real sovereignty is the only way.
