@tweethue @techsoz Looks like this is affecting multiple people worldwide. Can you check what's happening. Many people on X are complaining that they can't log in and I'm finding the same.

Any of my lovely friends still here? I've been going down a nostalga journey recently, trying to rekindle the fun and joy I used to have on social media. I joined Twitter with this account back in the year it was founded (2006). Missing the connections and conversations I had.

@BeeNetwork if we buy a family day pass for the Metro, can just my wife and I go into Manchester on the way there, and come back with our 2 kids? Or do we have to travel with our children both ways? What should we do?

@KonstantinKisin What if you run your own business? Yes, work hard. But you can also work intelligently and learn to delegate. That's the beauty in working for yourself. Freedom.

I have zero empathy for lazy people who earn a quarter of a million dollars a year. If you're on 250k and don't want to work EXTREMELY hard you should be fired immediately.

@unreceived @Miss_Snuffy Another potential advantage in moving over to a partial subscription model is Twitter being overly reliant on advertising. With a lot of advertisers pulling the plug, albeit temporarily, I think that's wise. And it means we, the consumers, are treated less as the product.

@baritoneuk @Miss_Snuffy All non-subscribers will also be treated like bots and ‘cut out’ as you put it. A huge advance for freedom and the do-called public town square /s

Why do you think the verification process won’t work if you pay for it? And why do you care that celebs will have to pay $8 for this service if they want it? This is so utterly baffling.

@zwitterio @Miss_Snuffy Yes, I think that's the case. I'm not verified, but with the current system I wouldn't use the filter because most people I follow aren't verified. But with the new system, more people would be verified and it would be more useful - to filter out the bots.

It is truly astonishing how this Government has squandered a landslide majority of 80 seats; the greatest since 1987. I've never known anything like it. Lady Thatcher may have been appalled, but Mrs Thatcher would have absolutely incredulous, not to say incandescent.
Nile Gardiner@NileGardiner

We are witnessing in the Conservative Party a Shakespearean tragedy, the result of a loss of nerve in No. 10, coupled with a nefarious attempt by Tory wets to carry out a coup. A Govt with a 70+ majority is collapsing, emboldening the Left. Lady Thatcher would have been appalled.

@Miss_Snuffy @5pm Cool. Would love to hear you speak if you are up here. By the way, you should check out the Laurus Trust schools. We are very impressed with them. Our kids' school's motto is "unashamedly academic".

@Adrian_Hilton Is there another party you would join if you were to resign from the Conservative party?

@the_veg_patch @Emma_A_Webb @calvinrobinson Very true. The past 15 years or so has shown a real lack of a strong party. But I fear it would be even worse if we had PR. We'd have more coalitions which aren't necessarily bad, but the manifestos get chucked out of the window and compromises made behind closed doors.

We need proportional representation. There is no other way to save democracy in the UK.

@no2_netzero @Emma_A_Webb @calvinrobinson Not that great of course. But my concern is that it would be far worse if we had PR. As I said before we'd get endless coalitions and the decisions would all be made behind closed doors which I believe is bad for democracy. I could be wrong though.

@Emma_A_Webb @calvinrobinson Yes, the problem with PR is we'd get endless coalitions and arguably the end of democracy with manifestos being torn up & policies made between potential coalition parties behind closed curtains. At least w. FPTP we can potentially get strong parties with the mandate to do stuff!

@glenscrivener thanks so much for "The Air We Breathe" one of the best books I've read in a long time and I believe one of the most important books people should read. I kept on highlighting nuggets and even made some notes.

So, I thought I'd resurrect my personal Twitter account. I joined when Twitter was a baby (2006). Might post about food, music and travel. Let's see...
