Yesterday, Nigel Farage announced that Reform UK would keep the triple lock if elected to government. The move is a short-term electoral gain that undermines the party’s project, writes @peterfranklin_ 👇 buff.ly/dE1OdbY

Disgusting attitude @DanielJHannan. I've worked all my life, started at 16 years old, paid tax and NI without a break. Governments spend our contributions on other things and moved the goalposts, now you call it a 'benefit'. Its not. You are ok of course, with your gold plated uk and eu pensions, few of us have that 'benefit'. Why not target the gold plated pension of the civil service, politicians, etc? Many of those of us in the private sector, that have contributed to this country for years, will get taxed on their state pension effectively giving a lot of it back, whether 20%, 40% or 45%. It is effectively means tested anyway. That doesn't show up in the accounts showing the spend on state pensions. You can argue about it, but at least WE have paid in to the country. Yet millions spent on foreigners who have made no contribution to our society.

For the retired people in the comments claiming "I paid more than my fair share". Actually, most of you didn't. You're being subsidised by me, my peers, and the children we won't be able to have.
