@Nord_lenningen @aothms @yorikvanhavre @theoryshaw @chopinregis The process of import/merge in the server is about data management. 'Roundtrip' is a workflow concept/principle. Those are different things. We have not seen use-cases that nééd round trip between multiple software tools. Happy to receive more info on your data flow goals.

@aothms @yorikvanhavre @Nord_lenningen @theoryshaw @chopinregis 2/2: Submitting an IFC dataset (file) as an update of a previous revision is also an option. The merging algorithm to integrate the update into the previous revision, is handled by a plugin (that can be configured to your wishes and preferences).

@yorikvanhavre @Nord_lenningen @theoryshaw @chopinregis @bimserver can easily give you a valid spatial subset. We use that all the time e.g. to parallelize computationally heavy algos. Getting the updates back is obviously the harder part, but shouldn't be impossible either as revisions are real first class citizens in @bimserver

@aothms @yorikvanhavre @Nord_lenningen @theoryshaw @chopinregis response 1/2: There are 'low level service calls' in @BIMserver to edit the data (changes will be stored as new revision). There are many network structures in IFC that you have to take into account though.

During design of .rvt -> .ifc conversion service for customer, found an article on large .ifc model sizes. Wondering if same problems exist with apps not opening .ifc more than 500mb e.g Revit? bimserver.org/2014/11/18/som… @bimserver @AutodeskRevit

@_johnegan @radugidei since @bimserver is a core component most of the contributions are in custom build plugins and GUIs.

@radugidei @_johnegan version 1.3 reached 100.000 downloads last week. Is that enough? We have dozens of real life cases.

@aothms @valosale I think it is best that you start an issue on github.com/opensourceBIM/… Please add logfiles, screenshots and error messages
