@landsman_j19 @_TomKeller There are many Catholic schools in NY that play in a Catholic league. But there are some Catholic schools in NY who choose to remain in public leagues and their only justification for doing so is “tradition.”

All these public schools who want to run from the smoke by making separate section away from “non-boundary schools” are cowardly to me. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Simple as that. I applaud the public schools who aren’t afraid of playing anyone.

And give me a break with the participation trophy crap. Public schools just don’t want to have compete against private school teams who have taken their best players.

It's happened again! Carle Place (boys) & William Floyd (girls) lose to NON-PUBLIC SCHOOLS in the state basketball playoffs. Carle Place lost to an Albany area charter school. Floyd lost to a Rochester private school. Something needs to be done about this. @NYSPHSAA

Just sayin’. In the past two years, 11 of the 12 boys basketball state champs have been either Catholic, private or charter schools. Only exception Central Dauphin. And it’s 16 of 18 in three years.

@rob_hub13 Private schools have a significant advantage. They can and do receruit students, whether athletes or mot from a wider geographic area and thus have a bigger pool to draw from

@daletruman @LostFaith11 @LawKelly38 I haven’t heard of anyone paying tuition to attend a public school. I know it happens but it’s got to be a really small number. And anyone who has the money to do that would probably opt for a private school instead. Either way, it’s not a comparison worth discussing
