@skelecest i think it would make so much sense if he felt responsible for the events in deltarune if he had familial ties to gaster :O and also thank u for talking about this with me ^^ i really enjoy picking at ur brain as theres not many people i can talk to about stuff like this!!

@broconsans sense if something happened that he feels he should have been able to prevent (but also knows deep down it wasn’t possible, hence his learned helplessness)

i interpret sans’s stats as being representative of physical disability… and i think it fits his character very well in general. his loss of autonomy and learned helplessness feels very much like the experience of having a degenerative disability to me. anyways here goes

@skelecest id personally love it if sans had trauma that effected his body in this way. i feel like it is a very realistic portrayal of how trauma can manifest as debilitating physical symptoms

@skelecest i also dont like the idea that he would be "cured" if his mental state improved. tying that in to having a disability specifically, i get ur distain. id like to think that post pacifist leaves room for things to improve for him, but as u said, he cant ever fully recover

@skelecest do u interpret sans to have always had low hp? i really like the idea that hp stands for hope, and that due to whatever happened in deltarune sans has very little

enemy in the game who *can’t* kill you, specifically stopping dealing damage the second you hit 1hp. it makes a lot of sense to think he learned to have such precise control over his magic for sans’s sake, so he’d never accidentally damage him… i doubt sans would be comfortable-

@skelecest i see people hold similar beliefs about others in real life. its easy to think in such black and white while sitting comfortably outside of it

@broconsans treating cutting the people who hurt them off as the ‘only option’ or by treating them as perpetuating the cycle for doing so. but it really isn’t that simple

actually this kind of gives me an excuse to talk about the version of them in my head. i believe that they dont talk about it as well. and specifically believe sans tries to actively avoid it and pretend it never happened

@skelecest it is easy and Comfortable to fit people into boxes. this person is evil and therefore i am justified to hate them. however it usually doesnt work that way in real life

@skelecest i agree. ive always hated the argument that its shallow because i think it takes a lot of skill to create characters that have so much depth that even their morally questionable actions can be Understood
