After 2 years of not having an AGM, we were able to secure a special general meeting to get rid of the managing agent and the trusties. This is going to be a fun meeting.

The redevelopment of the Cape Winelands Airport is moving along swiftly with an estimated project cost of R7 Billion for phase one✈️☁️ Fly Africa has said that the developers of the airport near #CapeTown, #SouthAfrica will be proceeding with environmental approvals for the redevelopment this month. EIA’s (environmental impact assessment) are a tool used to evaluate the effects of a project or #development proposal on the #environment. They help to ensure that developers adopt an environmentally responsible approach to their development and aim to avoid, reduce or offset any environmental impacts. The plan is to convert this #airport into an international commercial airport. The developer has plans to expand the airport by realigning the primary runway with a length of 3500m. The airport currently has 4 runways. They also plan to build a passenger terminal that can accommodate 5.2 million annual passengers. Some of the other developments on this site include: cargo terminals, aircraft hangars, a hotel, heliport, warehousing and logistics facilities. The Master Plan and several specialist aviation studies were carried out by the local office of NACO, Netherlands Airport Consultants.  The Cape Winelands Airport property was acquired in November 2020 by Cape Winelands Aero. This company is backed by a group of private #investors, including Rob Hersov. The airport was previously known as the Fisantekraal Airfield and belonged to the SA Air Force. It is a historical landmark and was originally constructed circa 1943 - at the time - Lockheed Ventura bombers were stationed here. The airport transitioned into private ownership in 1993.  This is a very ambitious project and will be great competition for Cape Town International Airport. Also great to see Cape Town attracting this level of private investment.
