Quick question to anaesthetists out there. My new department have said that even though our working week as anaesthetists is normally 4 days, we have to take 5 days of leave for a week off. Is that normal anywhere else? Because it's new to me. @TheBMA @RCoANews

@Kumaranism @AndrewJD So we've been told we have to use 5 days for a whole week even though our week is 4x NWD + 1x zero day. The rationale is that otherwise we would have too many weeks off with 16 days per 6 months

@cdrt @AndrewJD 👋 Not sure I understand the question. If you’re working 4 days in a week, simply apply for annual leave on those days to get the week off. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@DrJ_Haddock @TheBMA @RCoANews My work schedule says that my weekly average hours entitled to leave is 46.5. 1/5 of that is 9.3 hours. A normal working day is 10 hours. How does anyone else do this?

@cdrt @TheBMA @RCoANews No. That's not contractual. They can either calculate your leave in actual normal working days worked or they can calculate your entitlement in hours. The latter would probably be to your advantage anyway, as they should calculate a day of leave as 1/5 your weekly hours.
