@OhRyanMead Everyone was always way too hard on him. He had a rough 1.5 years as a Ranger during his entire tenure. And we bailed on him fast. Apologies are in order.
Shout to Mika Zibanejad for completely changing his narrative this year.
He's been NYR's best forward all year long and has had a complete career resurgence.
Alexis Lafreniére is on pace for 50 points with strong defensive metrics while playing pretty difficult minutes.
Yeah yeah, first overall pick etc. I'm not saying he's untouchable but it's very weird how some people are treating him like a problem the team should get rid of.
People are very confidently incorrect on this one in the comments... there was a runner on second. The batter was the third out to end the game but the ball hit the dirt so the catcher had to throw the ball to first for the force out. Instead they prematurely celebrated, the runner on 2nd ran home to tie it, and the batter that was out 3 ran the bases to be the winning run.
@OffTheTopMedia_@NHLRumourReport max contract max $ for a 30 year old goalie is a really piss poor way to do business. Plus Igor screwed NYR by not coming over earlier. He was a little bitch about being behind Hank. 4 years at 12 would have been way better then 8 years
Elliotte Friedman: I think there's few things the Rangers wouldn't consider, like Igor Shesterkin and some of their younger pieces; I think the Rangers have a lot of balls in the air - NHL Now (3/2)
Artemiy Panarin finishes 9th all-time as a Ranger.
607 points in 482 games.
The fewest games played by anyone else in the top-10 is 698.
Make no mistake, Panarin is the best forward this team has ever had.
1.26 is the highest P/GP by a wide margin #NYR
@NYNJHarper Hi John happy to get Peralta but they have to extend him if you are giving up Sproat and Jett . Really like Jett’s upside. Don’t want to see another PCA situation. Let’s get out and play some golf in the spring!
Stearns gets his guy. Early in tenure with Brewers he traded Adam Lind for package that included 19-year old Freddy Peralta, at the time a lottery ticket. A decade later Stearns trades with Brewers for Peralta to give the Mets the top-of-the-rotation starter they needed.
@russellgates_@nyronly There are some NHL ready defense prospects at the top of this upcoming draft. That could be one way to replace him. Trades and FA signings is another way.
Notes from Vince Mercogliano:
1. #NYR listening to just about everyone including Vincent Trocheck & Alexis Lafreniere (even tho Laf doesnt carry the same appeal league-wide as he once did)
2. Braden Schneider also gaining early chatter
3. Mika Zibanejad isn't going anywhere
Bichette is not an ideal fit considering Mets' need for outfielders, and even at 3B he doesn't fit Stearns' run-prevention narrative. But he does fill a need for an impact bat so at least have to give credit to Mets for pivoting quickly after losing out on Tucker.
@NYNJHarper Growing up and all through HS has any team ever not put their best infielder at SS? Has there ever been a case of a SS transitioning to 3B and failing? Ripken, Arod guys like that had no problems.
Vincent Mercogliano: Re Rangers: Their need to get younger and faster...has become apparent around the NHL; If Drury decides to go down that road, it sounds like he would have owner James Dolan’s blessing - The Athletic (1/7)
@Elessar43@Wildtimes61@NHLRumourReport And had their best regular season team ever just two years ago. People act like we’ve missed the playoffs for the last 20 years. Bad draft picks sunk us.
@Wildtimes61@NHLRumourReport Jeff Gorton drafted bums. They were lucky to have developed that junk to help on their best regular season team ever in 2024 with 14 developed players.
@canitano_a@NYRLouie There aren’t any examples of a player leaving the Rangers in the last 30 years and becoming a star elsewhere except JT Miller. Who was developed by the Rangers who stupidly traded him. We don’t draft well. Never have.
@NYRLouie We’ve been hearing “we don’t develop good” forever. How about some accountability on our guys just not working out here, some guys play better in different systems.
Kaapo Kakko: 11 points in his last 11 games. 24 years old.
K’Andre Miller: 6 points in his last 6 games. 25 years old.
Darren Raddysh: 16 points in his last 13 games. 29 years old.
The Chris Drury Plan!
