@damnitmadeline absolutely true! my mother was a 90s elem. teacher and I just applied those reading maxims to my toddler. At almost 4, we frequently catch him asleep with a peppa pig book or a baby shark book open in his lap, in his bed. When you encourage ANY reading at all, kids go far

A fun fact is that in my school district having silent reading time like we used to is heavily discouraged bc so many kids can’t read fluently at their grade level that it’s not considered meaningful instructional time by the powers that be but research tells us 1/

@naretevduorp that 2 of the newer teachers are carrying this on. One club for the younger kids and the older kids that I ran. This gives me hope for the future that these clubs continue to be so popular.

@naretevduorp I was a 4th grade teacher before I retired. I ran a Kindness Club, for years! That club was always filled. We wrote letters to B Vets, Fire, Police, etc. we helped our neighbors, learned to offer compliments to each other. I’m thrilled 1/2

I never got an answer. All I got was “that’s not what’s happening.” But it very much is, has been and will continue to. Maybe they have the luxury of not worrying if or when it’ll happen to someone they love. Most of us don’t.

I have a question for Republicans who support abortion bans, If your sister, daughter, or wife had a miscarriage in say, Texas or Georgia, and she needed an emergency D&C, would you want her to have to wait until she was dying of sepsis before she could receive care? Because that’s what is happening all over this country right now. Women are dying preventable deaths because of the bans YOU support. So, please answer the question. Because I’d really like to know.
