@Napoleonic_Imp Can you get any more wholesome than Alexander preferring French guards over Russian ones while residing in Paris after the city fell? After all, can't have pesky constitutions limiting absolute power while laying down said constitution for good ol Louis XVIII.

@AgeofNapoleon Talleyrand-Sire I wish only to serve you. Napoleon-You bow as you say that so one can't see whether your eyes support your words. Talleyrand-Man was given speech to disguise his thoughts and words to disguise his eyes. Don't trust anything or anyone😨😨😨😨.

Today is Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord's birthday. You could honor his memory by doing something decadent, corrupt, or deceitful, but I don't recommend it.

I will endeavor from this new year resolution to do much better in directing my passion towards this part of my life and giving my followers great content put into a military history background with a great narrative as a commander directing soldiers upon the field of battle.

I wish to apologize to everyone that has been waiting for so long for me to get out another episode. I honestly had to do serious soul searching after my father passed away in July of 2020 and have only recently found a great job with Presbyterian College-International Office.

#OTD Eylau concludes- Battles such as Austerlitz and Jena were seen as expected but the terrible winter conditions, scare resources in Poland, and the suicidal tenacity of Russian soldiers proved to the grand armee' that this victory would only come with a terrible body count.

@BattleRoyalePod @ContraPoints Ultimately it was also incredibly easy to blame a foreign queen in a time of increasing nationalism with a state that refuses to deal with necessary economic or political reforms. The revolution was by no means inevitable but Louis XVI’s leadership was truly a decisive factor.

The bells of St Denis chime every second hour to the tune of "Le Bon Roi Dagobert", a song about how the king who founded the church was an utter fool who wore his trousers inside-out. You can currently do a virtual tour of the basilica! exploreparis.com/en/

@mcribbHistory Can you imagine the sheer sound that went off when those guns were fired on the santisima trinidad during the battle of Trafalgar 😲😲😲😲. I mean honestly I’ll take a battle on land vs one at sea any day during the early 19th century since those wooden splinters-shrapnel 😨😨.

Putting into perspective a flag flown on the Spanish ship, San Ildefonso, during the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805 🇪🇸 The San Ildefonso carried 80 guns. It was captured by the Royal Navy during the battle, which saw the Royal Navy's victory over the Franco-Spanish fleet.

“When Yıldırım was taken to Timur's presence with his hands tied, Timur became furious with his soldiers and ordered the ropes to be untied immediately. He made Bayezid sit next to him and told him; "This war was the will of God. It is not possible to prevent the will of God,".

#OTD July 1402, a battle was fought outside Ankara. On one side was the army of Amir Timur, “the last of the great nomad conquerors,” who had spent the two preceding decades building a vast empire. On the other was that of the Ottoman ruler Bayezid I ‘The Thunderbolt’.

@LondonSE4 When his head was stuffed through the guillotine. Robespierre cried out in great pain obviously due to having a metal ball from said pistol break his lower jaw. The mob applauded in celebration because at last the person who epitomized fear and terror was being killed at last.

#OnThisDay 1794, Robespierre is arrested along with his brother, Saint-Just, Lebas and Couthon, all members of the Committee of Public Safety. The day before, he had made a speech at the Convention, heavy with threats, denouncing a "league of rascals" but without giving names.

#OTD Wellington’s victory on 22nd July 1812 over the French army of Marshal Marmont, during the Peninsular War, leading to the re-capture of Madrid; also known as the Battle of Los Arapiles or Les Arapiles. @mcribbHistory was this Wellington’s finest hour? youtu.be/VXc1MDNTKAA

The Second French Empire declared war yesterday-North German Confederation falling superbly into Prince Bismarck’s trap. “Not through speeches and majority decisions will the great questions of the day be decided-but by iron and blood.” One Empire must fall for another to rise!

@Bookish_Rachael Napoleon wrote at the time to Louis, Count of Provence (future Louis XVIII): 'Sir, I received your letter. I thank you for the kind things you write about me. You must not wish for your return to France. You would have to step upon 100,000 corpses. This statement was so accurate.
