JR East Stamp Rally Promos - the ones you had to literally earn on foot So this is one of my favourite stories in all of pokemon collecting. summer of 1997, JR East (Japan Railways) ran this event called the Pokemon Stamp Rally on the Yamanote Line in Tokyo. basically you had to go around to 30 different train stations and collect a stamp at each one. you had 2 days to do it. 100,000 tickets were sold in advance and they all sold out. the event ran from august 9-17 1997. think about that… this is barely a year into the pokemon TCG even existing. If you some how actually managed to hit all 30 stations… you got a booklet with 2 promo cards: a Surfing Pikachu and a Mew. A Surfing Pikachu with Mt. Fuji and a train in the background — a nod to the JR rail theme. I hold both of these graded and honestly these are some of the most meaningful cards in my collection. Not just because of rarity but because of what it took to get one originally. You couldnt just buy these. you had to physically travel around tokyo hitting 30 train stations in 2 days. Thats real effort. Interesting additional fact, Corocoro Surfing Pikachu is the same picture but looks like they just took out Mt Fuji 🤣. #TCG #PokemonTCG #NoRarity #NoRaritytoUranus

Most undervalued pre-2000 Pikachu right now in my opinion. Not reprinted. Iconically japanese. OG predating surfing and balloon pikas. Super rare. Id even go out on a limb and say its gonna be a true grail. Stamp Rally Fuji Surfing Pika. It was my first post for a reason. That post below.
