You're never going to have a measurement that quantifies how much percentage each person is "trying" because there would never be agreement on what that would even look like. The reality is that each person in a relationship is almost always going to feel like they are doing more than their partner, especially over the long-term. It's just how we're wired to perceive things. That's why couples get in these "look at all I do" "that's not what I need" "I didn't ask you to do that" type arguments with each other.

Dear women: Just because a man wants to sleep with you on the first date doesn't mean he's looking for a hookup. He could be looking for a long-term relationship. You women can't process this for some reason. Probably have been pumped and dumped so much that you've become paranoid, disillusioned, and highly distrustful of men. The fact is every man would love to have a long-term relationship with the right woman. Personally I'm a bit on the fence. Obviously I love sending them, because I love hearing myself speak. But I hate waking up in the morning, turning on my phone, and then I have to listen to some idiot sending me a 5-minute long podcast about how their day is going. Some of these voice messages feel long even on 2x speed. THAT SAID, I do like to hear a girl's voice, it just feels so much more personal. It's sweet, and I like it. So I don't know, it's between 2 and 3 for me.
