@sarahdrinkwater Yep gaming is always an issue. For landscape in particular I think the anonymous founders slack group complements the public review site well, as a fact checking / quick VC DD service. Well done Joe and Landscape team.

There was this explosion in startup programming in 10's. I have the best memories of building out a startup space then. And every scene has its missionaries and mercenaries but...wow. Takes me back to that era's grifter who targeted founders with less network + less knowledge 👎

Almost all founders learn brutal lessons during the first year, but some learn them much more quickly. Obviously those founders are more likely to succeed. So it could be a useful heuristic to ask, say 6 to 12 months in, "Have we learned our brutal lesson yet?"

@janaka_a @subomiOluwalana Largely positive as #devex goes, but it implicitly made a lot of assumptions about how the underlying infra should be set up, which I suspect is based on how 37signal architects their new data centre and racks - permissions and networking in particular

- AI is eating software that has been eating the world up to this point. - Newbies and expert-level devs look likely to benefit the most. - For the rest, it could spell an existential crisis. - As for AI self-initiated breakthrough, it remains to be seen whether it will happen.

@janaka_a Usually gives me great satisfaction when I spot a coding issue with ChatGPT before actually running the code - but I have to run it to be sure, such is my confidence level vs ChatGPT :(

As frustrating as ChatGPT is with made-up APIs in code examples, it feels easier/faster to solve problems vs Googling for Stackoverflow posts. Still, have to look up doc references.

Just a brilliant weekend judging + coaching at one of the world's first generative AI hackathons. The reason I went was to learn; you can play with this stuff solo, but it's much faster spending 24 hours watching talented people stretch what these tools can do.
