On the Arrest of Omoyele Sowore I was deeply disturbed to learn of the arrest of Mr. Omoyele Sowore @sowore yesterday, shortly after he voluntarily honoured an invitation by the Nigerian Police Force. At the time of writing, no clear or credible charges have been made public, which further casts a troubling shadow over the nature and motivation behind his detention. His arrest, particularly under circumstances where he presented himself in good faith to law enforcement, should be condemned by all who value justice and due process. From all indications, no urgency or criminal flight risk warranted such high-handed treatment. To detain a citizen who came of his own accord, without the public disclosure of clear, lawful charges, is not only a miscarriage of justice but an abuse of state power. As the ancient Greek philosopher Plato rightly said, “Justice in the life and conduct of the State is possible only as first it resides in the hearts and souls of the citizens.” When those entrusted with power act unjustly, they poison not only the legal order but the moral conscience of the nation. I therefore call on the Nigerian Police to immediately release Omoyele Sowore or charge him formally under the law. Anything short of this would be a further erosion of public trust in the nation’s law enforcement institutions. It is our collective duty to insist that the rule of law must apply to all citizens- regardless of ideology, background, or political alignment. -PO

I bet it will continue to baffle you as it seems you don’t look at the issues but probably focus on the name. 1) I am not a member of any party 2) I don’t even know what part of Enugu Frank Nweke is from so how could I have chosen him based on the reason of tribe or region as others did in the post I made? 3) I supported Akpata as he is the most competent with no party and godfather baggage and if Labour Party had brought a less competent candidate I would not have supported just as I didn’t support that of Enugu. 4) Also in my support for Frank Nweke I never supported him as a member of any group but in my personal capacity which is more than enough. 5) Do you understand or is the name Aisha not allowing you to get it?

For those who said it had to be Esan, well you have Esan. I hope it makes you sleep better at night. As for those crying I don’t get it, is Monday’s Esan not Esan enough? Or are you crying because of the gross incompetence has? When Labour Party decided to choose the most competent rather than Esan you all attacked it even those who had jumped ship before Labour Party even had a candidate.

A new bill is about to be passed. If you insult any politician, you get 2 years in prison or 4m fine. If you refuse to sing the National Anthem, 10 years in prison. If you protest, 5 years in prison. I refuse to believe this is happening in Nigeria.

@AishaYesufu It's becoming obvious that most commentators are suffering from "mental migraine". The inability to address issues, the tit for tat approach to National discourse is symptomatic of a culture of no values and beliefs When would we draw the line of acceptable norms

If I was to run for office of the President and PDP flag bearer. All the PDP supporters that have hated me for years and called me all sorts of names will now begin to praise me. Aisha Yesufu will now be the best thing after jollof rice. 🤣 What a way to live! No values, no integrity, no character, no liver, no audacity and hope in themselves. Just hungry to be in the corridors of powers by all means. Very pathetic mindset!

@renoomokri Your double speak makes me doubt if there's a better tomorrow for Nigeria I have no political affiliation, but isn't it time, things are done in a more mature and progressive way in Nigeria. INEC did not deliver on their promises Why waste billions of naira without result???

No reasonable court is going to order another election. Nigeria spent over a billion dollars on the last election. There needs to be a very compelling reason to order a rerun for a court to make us spend another billion dollars. And Peter Obi has not provided even a scintilla of proof to invalidate the #NigerianElections2023. The man is not even claiming that he won. It is his deluded supporters who are seeking to reclaim a mandate that their principal does not even claim. How do you look for something that is not lost? All he and his supporters have done is attempt to intimidate the Nigerian judiciary with their #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary propaganda. In my opinion, two things will likely happen tomorrow. Either the Presidential Election Petition Court declares Waziri Atiku Abubakar the winner of the election and thus the President-elect, or they uphold the election and President Bola Tinubu retains his seat. They are not likely to order a rerun because of a third-place loser relying on marketplace gossip and whose future chances have been dashed by the leaked Yes Daddy audio, where he conspired to declare religious war on the Muslim Ummah. #TableShaker

@realFFK @officialABAT You are a merchant with words; unfortunately, what you say has no meaning to you. Your words have left indelible mark of pain and anguish in the heart of many ordinary and average Nigerians. The best panacea for healing the Nation is for people like to disappear from public space

After the swearing in of our President-elect, @officialABAT, it will be a time for healing our land, building bridges between our people, showing love to our adversaries, re-building our nation, establishing eternal peace with all men of goodwill and putting an end to the hostility and acrimony that exists between us all. The new dispensation will usher in a new and refreshing era in which our beautiful and great nation shall excel and go from strength to strength. Nigeria must and will play her expected role in the emerging new world order. She must and will take her rightful place in the comity of nations. She must and will rise and shine in her God-sent power and glory. She must and will become who and what the ancient oracles of the Living God have said she is: the Giant of Africa and the hope of the black man. We are Nigerians, sons and daughters of a great and powerful nation boasting of no less than 250 million God-loving and God-fearing people of different ethnic nationalities and religious faiths and bound together by destiny, faith and hope. Our diversity is our pride and joy and our faith in God is our strong defender and our shield and buckler. Our collective travails, trials and tribulations are the fiery furnace in which our unity has been forever forged. The labours and sacrifices of our heroes past shall never be forgotten or in vain. They toiled, struggled and suffered and established a great and noble foundation that we may have a better tomorrow. Our singular and sacred obligation and honorable duty before God is never to forget their sacrifices and to honor their memories by keeping hope alive and building on their great and noble legacy. Our history is clear, resounding and unblemished. It testifies of our resilience and strength as a people. We are no-ones slaves or poodles. We bow to no foreign entity or nation. We are Nigerians: the pride of Africa and the strength of the black man. Blessed and lifted by Almighty God our ancestry, culture, heritage and history of excellence, fortitude, resilience, strength, courage and civilisation stretches back for thousands of years. Forged into one nation in 1914 and freed from the shackles of colonialism in 1960, we are proud and fearless sons and daughters of the Green White Green. Wherever we go we excel, we prosper, we shine, we fly high and we take authority and dominion. No man born of woman shall enslave us or hold us down and no force on earth or in hell shall break our iron will, shatter our divine destiny or dismember our beautiful nation. We stand firm and strong and we hold the line. We keep the flag flying against all odds and despite our numerous challenges. We are unbeatable, irrepressible, unshakable and unbreakable! We are one nation, under one God! Glory to Nigeria! (FFK)
