NOW: In Ohio's Senate gaming committee, Republican Bill Blessing is introducing a bill to increase gambling taxes. The bill levies a 2% fee on sports gaming WAGERS. The 2% fee is in addition to Ohio’s existing 20% tax on sports gaming RECEIPTS. @WEWS @WCPO @OhioCapJournal

That absolutely can still happen - takes half a second to sign up on prediction markets or offshore books. But we’re still cool with the freedom of choice for college students to drink every night of the week if they choose? Still cool for weekend keggers? Why don’t we put this same energy into other things that have far more of an impact on not just the user but those around them? - max bar tab or $50 - no more than 2 drinks at any restaurant - can’t pay for alcohol with a credit card If you’re going to limit what adults choose to do with their money and free time, might as well go for gold, no?

You know what can't happen when Save Ohio Sports Act passes? Countless college students and young men can't lose their shirts chasing bets they statistically have little chance to win. Sure some will cross state lines, but the numbers speak for themselves that WAY more people bet when sports betting is legalized in the state. To suggest the same amount of betting, or any where near the same amount of betting will occur is a lie. And people like this know it.

Nobody is more out of touch with the gambling industry than politicians This will solve nothing People will just go offshore, prediction markets, or travel state lines It’s the same reason prohibitions in the 20s failed — people just won’t stop betting but they will do it now in unregulated markets

I like all those listed maybe except the limit one. But its not bad either. You can still go to another state and bet it. U just got a lil ride time to think it out before you lock it in. Ive seen gambling break up families, with kids… turn families homeless. Sports betting is fun. But it can be dangerous. Some of these are at least a speed bump in slowing you down from losing everything. It wont be long everyone will know someone that either lost their home, caused divorce’s or even sewerslide.
