@TheHubCanada @Sean_Speer You are right on top of political violence in the US, rushing out a pod about Charlie Kirk, consistent with your approach when Melissa Hortman was assassinated. Stellar work. Although maybe wait to see who committed the crime before concluding on the motives?

@LalimesMartian That’s a very strained analogy. 1 and 2/3 games and it doesn’t drive the same? I think we all wish Ullmark might skip the 4 Nations but the collective agreement leaves it up to the players.

Linus Ullmark on the Sens is like they got a great deal on a seemingly beautiful new car. Minor issue when we first got it but then it drove great for about a month until all of a sudden it’s back in the shop and when you get it back 2 months later it doesn’t drive the same. Now we’re supposed to let a friend borrow it and hope it comes back as good as before?.. not into it. That’s our 🍋

@TeenanostraQ What is shameful is your President. He declared a trade war against Canada. And you’re winging about a little booing.

What a creep. Touching her, asking her for a drink and then standing and heckling her from the sidelines. Stay classy Libs. Keep up the double standard media.

.@MelissaLantsman is as tough as they come. But imagine what the MSM reaction would have been to a CPC male Minister doing...well...this, to a female Liberal MP. Watch the hands. She's doing a live press conference. He's lucky she didn't punch him in the face.

@ABDanielleSmith Unbelievable how you are completely caving to Trump. Turn the other cheek? He only sees weakness in what you are saying. Show some pride and backbone.

We all know that if there are tariffs imposed by the U.S. then there would have to be a proportional response by our country. However, when you have a dispute with your best friend and ally, it is entirely counterproductive to escalate matters by talking about retaliation, how tough we are and how we plan on hitting our friend back if they hit us. It is a far wiser approach, and a much more Canadian one I might add, to diplomatically identify their concerns through face-to-face engagement and work with them on negotiating a win-win for both the U.S. and Canada. The U.S. President is clearly concerned about border security, achieving energy dominance and strengthening the shared defence of our continent. Our two countries clearly have shared interests in all of these areas. So let’s start there and move forward with a mature discussion as friends should. We need to lead with diplomacy rather than bravado, bluster and escalation. I will continue to do so.

The idea that you know what's best for Albertans when you live in Ottawa, Toronto or Montreal is pretty arrogant.

@Mugzy30 @ABDanielleSmith 💯 wrong. It was addressed in the news conference. Hydroelectricity from Quebec is on the table. Shameful behaviour by Premier Smith. She’s playing into Trump’s hands.

I had a constructive discussion with my fellow Premiers on how best to deal with the threat of tariffs from the incoming U.S. administration. We agreed on several strategies and I look forward to continuing to work with them on this critical issue. However, federal government officials continue to publicly and privately float the idea of cutting off energy supply to the U.S. and imposing export tariffs on Alberta energy and other products to the United States. Until these threats cease, Alberta will not be able to fully support the federal government’s plan in dealing with the threatened tariffs. Alberta will simply not agree to export tariffs on our energy or other products, nor do we support a ban on exports of these same products. We will take whatever actions are needed to protect the livelihoods of Albertans from such destructive federal policies. We  also urge our entire nation to use this tariff threat as an opportunity to correct the misguided direction of this country and commence multiple infrastructure projects that focus on developing, upgrading and exporting our oil, gas and other natural resources, instead of effectively land locking them and keeping us fully reliant on one primary customer. I will be travelling to Washington D.C. this week for the inauguration, and will be returning to the United States several times over the coming months to meet with U.S. lawmakers and officials to continue to make the case against the imposition of tariffs on Canadian products and to strengthen and grow the trading relationship between our two great and independent nations.

@KristinRaworth @MarcMillerVM The optics of Smith being there with O’Leary, who thinks Canada being the 51st state is a great idea, and Petersen, who chose the US over Canada, definitely affect how people interpret what she’s doing or saying there.

@JeffMarek It’s 50 years ago, so hard to recall the thinking at the time, but that feels like revisionist thinking. What I recall is that the Soviets faced what all teams faced playing in the Spectrum. They just got Philly flu part way thru the game, rather than before.

If you want to live with your parents and grandparents, there’s an easy solution: go back to your country. Among all the immigrants that Canada accepts, parents and grandparents of other immigrants are the ones that we need the least. They typically will contribute very little or nothing to the economy, but will need costly healthcare and other social services. And this at a time when these services are clogged and barely available for Canadians. We should ABOLISH this program, not just pause it, as the @peoplespca proposes in its platform.

@mattgurney You’re right about many Trudeau supporters. They need to move on. Of course, the flip side of the coin is too many dectractors on the right are in fact blaming Trudeau for Trump being Trump.
