@blakandblack deadly. and i fucking love it. all power to you and the mobs. i was so fucking impressed by lidias speech.

I’ve just read some comments on this platform inferring that Indigenous people who call themselves blak do so because we are illiterate, uneducated and can’t spell black. Personally, I see dropping the “c” as kind of like taking the “cunt” out of black … but I will offer a more erudite explanation…
The term "blak" has emerged as a distinctive identifier among some Indigenous Australians, representing a self-affirming expression of identity. Understanding this linguistic choice is crucial for comprehending broader themes of identity, colonisation, and cultural resilience among Indigenous populations.
The Empowering Aspects of "Blak"
Proponents of the term "blak" argue that it serves as a powerful tool for self-identification and cultural reclamation. The term, often stylised in lowercase, is seen as a deliberate deviation from the colonial imposition of the term "black," which can carry negative connotations and a history of oppression. According to Indigenous scholar Aileen Moreton-Robinson (2004), the use of "blak" emphasises the cultural and political agency of Indigenous Australians, reclaiming our identity in a manner that asserts pride and resistance against colonial narratives.
The choice of "blak" also reflects a broader movement within Indigenous communities to redefine identity on our own terms. As articulated by Indigenous activist and writer Lidia Thorpe, the term fosters a sense of belonging and unity among diverse Indigenous groups, transcending tribal affiliations and promoting a collective Indigenous identity (Thorpe, 2020). The term has been embraced in various cultural expressions, including art, music, and literature, where it signifies resilience and the ongoing struggle for recognition and rights.

Mass death & destruction in Gaza wouldn't have happened if Hamas had not attacked Israel on 7 October
Hamas knew Israel would retaliate & was willing for 42,000 Gazans to die
There's no excuse for Israeli war crimes. But Hamas started the carnage

Chatted to Queenslanders on weekend. Couldn’t explain why they want to vote Labor out: don’t like Palaszczuk (she’s gone), something about cost of Olympic Games (in 2032). No real reason though. So what is it, why is Labor on the verge of being voted out? #auspol

@Maggie_Perry6 Okay, there are landslide victories.
There are convincing wins.
There are hard-fought close contests.
And then there's this. Yikes.

Why can't we have elections with results like this. Just for the fun of it

BREAKING: Judge releases Trump’s plan to steal the election in writing:
Oh this is nothing. It’s just the game plan, in writing, that the Trump team literally wrote out on how to steal the 2020 election by undermining all our votes.
Republicans won’t read it though because Kamala laughs funny.
No wonder why Trump is hiding…

@thejackhopkins your voice and experience brings strength and action to the intelectualists thoughts perhaps?

The list of super-smart people who follow me has grown longer than my memory allows me to recall without looking: people who can understand certain things on a level that few other human beings can even remotely approach. People who can think circles around me a hundred times before getting out of bed.
Why people like this follow me has been puzzling for a long time. I'm no idiot, but I don't live in the same IQ neighborhood as the people I'm talking about.
My wife pointed out something so simple that I think it might be at least part of the reason: "You'll write things that many wish someone would write or talk about...society has been conditioning people to stop talking about."
"They might not even agree with a good deal of what you post. Still, they realize the importance of at least some people being willing to write it raw, to keep the edges from connecting and forever sealing off raw, edgy, and non-watered down communication from being able to reach readers/listeners who want material delivered that way."
I thought about what she said for a moment. "No, That's not it. Marjorie Taylor-Greene is raw, edgy, and non-watered down...and intellectuals aren't standing in line to follow her."
"You big dummy. They know you have their best interests in mind. That's not something you write. That's something you unconsciously sprinkle on top of what you write. If you don't have that in your heart and mind, you don't have any to sprinkle."
I have no idea if there's so much as a shred of truth in what she said or whether it was just an older guy and a still relatively young woman spinning yarns in each other's minds. I'm leaning towards the latter.
What I do know is that those of you I'm referencing understand who you are. You know your cognitive abilities far surpass those of all but a select few you encounter in life. I recognize the contributions each of you has made/is making to the world that make it a better place.
I have no idea why you follow me. I really don't. However, it doesn't matter. I'm just honored that you do, even if it's simply because I'm entertaining-although I hope it's something more than pure entertainment.
I'm happy to know that I'm on the same "Team Blue Defenders of Democracy" as you. Even if we don't share the same grey matter "upper ceiling," we all know that's not necessary. We all have the power to cast our votes equally and fight for the same outcome.
We are all...brothers and sisters in arms.

.@StevenJMiles Latest poll I've seen puts L-NP 10 pts ahead of Labor in Qld.
I find this hard to believe, because I can't see a reason for it.
How do you explain it?
