@SophiaKianni Hi Sophia, looks like you are wearing plastic clothes which release microplastics when washed. When I worked for the @UNFCCC, I sourced my natural fibre clothing through Germany's biggest second-hand store (@momoxfashion ), like here while meeting with @antonioguterres @COP26

You’re looking at one of the most magical landscapes on earth and chances are most people have never heard of it. These are the Shola “sky islands” of the Nilgiris. At first glance, it looks like a painting, but this landscape is alive in ways most people never realize. These 'cloud forests' locally known as "Cauliflower Shola", are living water systems. They capture drifting clouds, store rain deep within their soil, and release it slowly into rivers that sustain millions of lives. They are ancient, incredibly rare, and home to species found nowhere else on Earth 🌍 like Eriochrysis rangacharii (grass endemic to Nilgiris), Horsfield"s spiny lizard etc. Photo by Meenakshi Sundaram #SholaSkyIsland #CloudForests

India’s forests are, among other things, forests of memories. Memories of lives and times gone by. In this HT piece, I explore how the memory of elephants working alongside their human companions lingers on in the forests they once lived, played, worked, and died in. A short 🧵

Modern city infrastructure often falls apart within a single lifetime. Yet the water at the Tipón archaeological site in Peru has been flowing through these exact stone channels for over 500 years. The Incas built a self-sustaining hydraulic network without a single electric pump, and we still aren't entirely sure how they mapped the underground springs with such flawless precision.

- 👏👏👏👏👏👏 @AlexCrawfordSky This is how you report Israeli attempts to demonise the journalists they murder. The contrast with @BBCNews extraordinary. @SkyNews rightly leading with the story.

"The orangutan, which shares 97 percent of its DNA with humans, on the Indonesian islands of Borneo and Sumatra may have once had a population of almost 250,000. They have lost over 150,000 of their population in the last generation due to deforestation. 1/6

One of the best public art projects I've seen. Grim park shelter turned into glorious roman-style mosaic menagerie, by the Hackney Mosaic Project.

“Ecology is bigger than capitalism, bigger than human civilization itself. Yet for most humans today ecology takes place somewhere in the sidelines of existence, or in a classroom, or a nature documentary. We fail to grasp the gravity of our ignorance of almost everything that exists” open.substack.com/pub/georgetsak…

In Mizoram's dense forests, there is ONE elephant left. She is female. She has been alone for over a decade. And she is searching for a male partner as per villagers I interviewed. My story of the last elephant of Dampa with with @PARInetwork,

Who profits from the war on Iran? The excess profits from energy price spikes land in the portfolios of the richest of the rich, while people around the globe face an accelerating cost-of-living crisis as first oil, gas & fertilizer prices & then prices across the economy rise.

Is lantana silently reshaping India’s forests and wildlife? This invasive species is spreading rapidly across India, altering habitats and impacting biodiversity, including big cats. It is also a key focus in @down2earthindia's State of India’s Environment 2026. Join @ninad_mungi and @himanshujourno in this CSE Live Chat as we unpack the story behind the “lantana tiger” and what it means for our forests. A student in Zurich sleeps in a camper van outside a hangar every night. Just to have more hours to build a humanoid robot. He’s obsessive. He's not alone. 2,500 students across Europe are getting into robotics right now. And now they united and just launched: ESRA, the European Student Robotics Association. 🇪🇺🦾 They are bringing together highly talented young people, give them space, give them resources and let them build. By now already 13 robotics clubs. 8 countries. 2,500+ students. I visited several of them over the last weeks to get to know them and let them tell their stories. We've also been helping behind the scenes where we can, because this is exactly what Europe needs. Several multiple billion dollar companies will come out of the ESRA network. Right here in Europe. If the Bay Area had a student robotics network like this, they would never shut up about it. Time we do the same. 😤🔥🇪🇺 It only needs a few crazy ones to fix a continent. Turns out they're already building. 🇪🇺

Zohran Mamdani is being heckled right now at a press conference in Brooklyn, NY, by someone whose words I can't hear, but watch how he's dealing with it. Mamdani has the unique skill of knowing how to handle and walk into every room and engage with people, no matter how toxic they are or how their feelings are against him. And many times, make them feel heard. Elected officials, nonprofit and religious leaders, advocates, and activists on both sides of the political spectrum who met with him told me that. Don't take my word for it, President Trump is pretty public about it. That's why he's currently the mayor of New York City. If you don't like his politics or you're like me, who opposed his candidacy and is still troubled by some of his actions and statements, then don't take this post the wrong way; read into it how you should be better to communicate your message. Yes, putting ego aside for any public figure is not easy.
