There are individuals in our society who have perfected the art of masquerading,smiling in public while spitting venom in private.Their tongues drip with honey, yet their intentions crawl with serpents. To demand that a leader must embrace every hand, including the one known to strike in broad daylight, is to trivialize wisdom and glorify naïveté. Not every hand extended is a gesture of peace. Some are invitations to downfall. H.E is not a machine,he is human. But he is not a foolish human. He carries scars of betrayal, bruises of deception, and the memory of those who weaponised proximity. A wise man learns to discern between a handshake of unity and a handshake of hypocrisy. Let the critics be reminded: ❤️Even Christ did not shake every hand. ❤️Even Mandela avoided certain tables. ❤️Even Nyerere, Nkrumah, and Lumumba refused certain embraces. Why? Because leadership requires the courage to say NO, even when the crowd expects a YES. So before you crucify H.E Kyagulanyi for refusing a handshake, ask yourself: Is leadership the art of pleasing everyone, or the discipline of knowing who must be kept at arm’s length? In African wisdom we say: “A man who shakes every hand eventually shakes the hand that buries him.” Therefore, do not mistake restraint for arrogance. Do not mislabel discernment as pride. And do not waste your breath attacking a man for simply remembering that some snakes have learned to walk upright.
