In #myeloma, why do we perform an SPEP using serum and not plasma? Serum = plasma minus clotting factors. A plasma protein electrophoresis (show below) might obscure a monoclonal protein due to clotting factors such as fibrinogen. (Ref: Clinical Immunology 3rd Ed, Chapter 96)

@HadidiSamer 10 PET scans over 18 months seems extreme, but I agree MRI, particularly DW-MRI, is emerging as the preferrential test in #myeloma

#ESHMM2026 #mmsm MRI whole body is the imaging of choice with no radiation exposure , better sensitivity 10 PET scans over 1-1.5 years is equivalent to 27857 CXR !! With myeloma patients living longer we need to lay more attention to radiation exposure

Even though more patients with be dara-exposed than in Tec-3, considering both arms were dara-naive and in TRIMM-2 with tal-dara most patients were dara-exposed, the efficacy seems to be driven by the bispecific antibody #mmsm

Just in: Good news for the myeloma field. FDA approves teclistamab plus daratumumab (Tec-Dara) combination for myeloma for patients who have had at least one prior line of therapy. Note: Always use Tec-Dara with monthly IVIG. It’s not optional. That was fast! And this is unprecedented curve is why.
