PSA! In 2019 I noticed what I (and two dermatologists) thought was simply a super resistant sun spot. NOPE. A few months ago, I went to see Dr. Jennifer Deaver at #ThePearlDermatology for my eczema and she said…. Hmm. We need to biopsy that. Sure enough it was #melanoma. Although it is cancer, I am so grateful that it was on the surface only. I’ve been working with the amazing people over at #MDAnderson and today was my first surgery to remove the cancer. Friday I’ll be getting a skin graft and hopefully will be on the mend. I’m a little worried that my smile might be impacted (reminiscent of my #BotoxMishaps!) but hopefully in time it’ll be okay. I am well aware that I am one of the very lucky ones who have to go to MD Anderson. I pray for all of you dealing with much more serious situations. Please— if you see anything that is strange or off, TALK TO A DOCTOR. Don’t kick the can like I did. Thank you Dr. Jennifer Deaver, Dr. Amy Hessel, Dr. Z Hye Lee, Nurse Rachelle, orderly (and soon-to-be nursing student) James, and everyone else for being so kind and thorough.
