I was surprised to learn Akara and Moi-moi are original to the Yoruba people. I thought it was just “Nigerian”.

Went for an exam for surgical residency slot that year, 21 slots available, over a 100 doctors, 5 females, one of the examiners told us that the 5 females automatically had the 5 slots and the rest of us were to battle it out for the remaining 16 slots. Everyone thinks men have it easier. I once went for a job interview with a male colleague. Same law school, Same grades, Same final-stage invitation letter. We even walked into the building together, excited. But the moment the interview started, something felt strange. The interviewer barely looked at him. Every question, every smile was directed at me. Even when I was like “sir, we actually went to law school together” Omo nothing changed ooo. Walking out of that building, I learnt that: Wetin man eyes dey see because of hustle ehn… Some things just hard pass money problem.
