Right now, cherry blossoms are blooming beautifully all across Japan. 🌸 This spring, the sakura feels like a perfect symbol — a fresh beginning. Al Gore is a charlatan. He predicted (or said) that: - the Arctic Ocean would be “ice-free” by 2013. That didn’t happen. - there’d be no more snow on Mount Kilimanjaro by 2016. That didn’t happen. - polar bears are dying out. That’s not happening; in fact, most populations are relatively stable. - that Lake Chad is drying up due to global warming. While the lake is drying up, decreasing water levels are due to increased population and, by extension, increased water drawdown. - the melting of the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets would cause sea levels to rise by 20 feet in the “near future.” That did not happen, and it won't happen anytime soon. Gore did correctly predict, among many scientists, only that it would continue to get warmer, and that the atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) level has exceeded 400 parts per million (ppm). That’s true. But the worst-case scenarios are just not happening.
