@LtTimMcMillan @VoxDemosthenes USSS appears to have had four counter sniper teams, as well as deployed drones during the event. I've covered these events as a photojournalist, so having documented how USSS works, I can't sort out how any of this happened ... especially with drones deployed for aerial recon.

@VoxDemosthenes For a sitting President there is much more significant security, which can include overhead surveillance depending on the location, circumstances, etc. For presidential candidates and former presidents there are much less security resources.

@jonostrower We did not just harden cockpit doors after 9/11. We changed the whole physical security process, we started passenger vetting, baggage-passenger matching, we banned carry on items, including liquids. Hardened cockpit doors were the final fail safe measure of all else failed.

After 9/11 we made it harder for bad guys to get access to airplanes needed to commit mass murder. We hardened cockpit doors and created an entire government agency aimed at stopping it from ever happening again.
