39-Year-Old Mozambican National Arrested by Mpumalanga Police After Being Nabbed with a Stolen Toyota Legend 50 Double Cab on N4 Near Alkmaar After High-Speed Chase Police in Mpumalanga have arrested a 39-year-old suspect and recovered a stolen double cab bakkie during a targeted operation along the N4 on Sunday, 12 April 2026. The vehicle, a silver Toyota Legend 50, was intercepted by the Nelspruit Flying Squad after being flagged as stolen in North West Province. Police had received information about the stolen vehicle, which was reported missing in Phokeng in North West Province earlier this month. Officers conducted a lookout operation and located a vehicle matching the description driving near Alkmaar on the N4. It was immediately stopped for inspection. During preliminary checks, officers discovered that the vehicle had false registration plates and a fraudulent disc. Further verification confirmed that the Toyota Legend 50 had indeed been reported stolen in North West Province. The driver, a Mozambican national, was unable to provide valid proof of ownership. The 39-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. Police say the recovered vehicle has been secured for further investigation as authorities continue efforts to combat vehicle theft and related crimes across Mpumalanga and surrounding provinces.
