@BigGeorge6953 @TyAlbrecht13 Kyle could coach defense and his teams rebounded well. Found hidden gems that nobody wanted as well.
English

@TyAlbrecht13 @fraternalcloud But the difference is Kyle changed his offense to fit his personnel. He didn't force his guys into a mold. He took what he had and tried to form his offense around it. We shot 3s but it definitely varied team by team

@zacyourback @WSUCougars @WSUCougarsMBB When we were in the Pac12 we definitely had the least amount of resources compared to everyone else, Smith turned over a completely new roster and came in 2nd place. More money is always good but this isn’t anything new to us. Win with less is a staple at Wazzu.
English

You’re not wrong, but I’m talking about institutional support.
We aren’t funded to equally compete with our peers.
We plugged $20 million for a year to keep us 2nd from the bottom… that’s the reality.
If that goes away?
…Riley
He earned coaching awards and won at his previous stop.
Coward. Watts. Ice.
They identify elite hidden talents.
It takes money to KEEP talented basketball players after they’ve been identified.
We win with LeJuan as our superstar this year…
We are at least competing with Santa Clara for #3 in WCC and a bid.

WSU Basketball remains one of my top life passions and hobbies.
We should have an equal playing field.
Stop hating on players and coaches, and start directing the anger towards the appropriate people.

@BigGeorge6953 Look, offense comes and goes, if we ever want to make it back to the tournament we have to have some sort of identity that has to do with playing good defense. We can be an offensive juggernaut but if we can’t stop anyone it doesn’t matter.
English

@fraternalcloud I don't disagree with any of that. I was talking specifically about the offense. Look at his teams at eastern, last years team as well. Players that had played together for a while. Defense has always been optional for Riley as well as being stubborn about his offense.
English

@TyAlbrecht13 @BigGeorge6953 As coug fans we should be looking to see if the coach has set an identity yet, the only identity I can see is that we shoot a lot of 3’s. That should be deeply concerning to you regardless of who he retains. We need to be a top 4 defense next year for me to even remotely care.
English

@TyAlbrecht13 @BigGeorge6953 I would normally agree with you if Riley has shown in his two years that he coaches good defense and fundamental basketball but he doesn’t. His culture is shoot tons of 3’s and hope they go in. If they do then we compete, if they don’t then we suck.
English

@fraternalcloud @BigGeorge6953 I’m not defending Riley’s defense, but keeping people does help. It’s another year of being in the same system and you hope they are able to improve. Constantly bringing in people for 8 months and then them leaving makes it hard to get the system down
English

@BigGeorge6953 The problem with Riley imo isn’t retention of players it’s the ability to coach good defense, take care of the ball and rebound consistently. Name one coach at Wazzu ever to not coach good defense and make the tournament in the last 35 years?
English

@fraternalcloud The problem with Riley's system is it requires teams to stay together. And he hasn't figured out how to adjust to this new world of rebuilding every year. So the more consistency, the higher the chance we don't totally suck.
English

@BigGeorge6953 Like your optimism but I don’t think this is a very talented team. Glass is good but a role player on most power teams, the rest of the players are mid to lower level wcc talent. Lots of bad division 1 teams can play good teams tough.
English

@fraternalcloud The players have talent. They wouldn't be competing with SCU & SMC and getting big leads in other games if they weren't. Esp the likes of Ri, ND, Ace, and Thomas. The problem is Riley and staff. So to answer your question.... yes. It does.

The Academy has issued a statement after Teyana Taylor was shoved at the #Oscars:
"We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night. We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community.
Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable.
We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again."

@InkMasterbator Another orange man bad post, like Disney Starwars very unoriginal.
English

@RangerApologist I don’t care if he’s the worst player on the team and causes them to lose the next game. As long as he hits 60 bombs and helps the Ms win the division again I’m ok with it.

If you hate Donald Trump more than you hate the Iranian regime you’re what’s wrong with America.
English

@zacyourback Gueye didn’t play in that game btw. I would maybe agree if he has shown the ability to coach defense and be competitive against our rivals and actually beat a power/ncaa tournament team once. Best way to get fans on his side, beat the Huskies and be competitive vs Zags.
English

Yup!
People forget he beat WSU coach Smith in the 2023 NIT handedly…
One year before our historic 2024 tournament run.
He deserves more time and higher levels of support.
