@PeterBradshaw1 A Weak Year for Film and an even Weaker Job Done by Reviewers. How the utterly dreadful A Real Pain won any awards is bewildering!

@PeterBradshaw1 Great 1970's CV. Scarecrow, French Connections and The Conversation. Magnificent as a supporting actor in the following decades.

@CllrSirajIslam @LutfurRahmanTH You quote: "Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, French, German, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic?" Some of the above mentioned have a far longer history in East London than the relatively youthful state of Bangladesh. So where are the translations that represent other communities in LBTH?
English

@LutfurRahmanTH Attack on one language is an attack on all - with Martyr's day coming up, we Bangladeshis know the sacrifice it took to protect our mother tongue.
People of different cultures must stand together to challenge this sort of prejudice. In London we celebrate our diversity together
English

Why single out Bengali when there are signs in Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, French, German, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic and more? Bengali is the second most spoken language in London after English.
Having Bengali and English signs in Whitechapel station pays tribute to the contribution of the Bangladeshi community. Our Tower Hamlets Town Hall signs also welcome visitors in many languages from across our community and around the world.
Diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths, where everyone’s contribution is valued, regardless of ethnicity or first language. In East London, our communities have always stood together against division - and we always will

This is London - the station name should be in English, and English only.

@OL1UR @CllrSirajIslam @TH_Labour @arrhenius @Suez_Miah @AbdalUllah @ShahedaRahman98 @Hussain6Nazma @shadchowdhury2 I'm reasonably certain that any Party of any particular political persuasion would be immensely embarrassed to have someone like you who spouts such diction online, following them.
English

@CllrSirajIslam @TH_Labour @arrhenius @Suez_Miah @AbdalUllah @ShahedaRahman98 @Hussain6Nazma @shadchowdhury2 While you’re protesting, Lutfur Rahman & Aspire are out delivering for the people.
Protecting pensioners from Labour winter fuel cuts.
EMA, University bursaries.
Protesting against Labour’s love of genocide.
Labour want people dead, and we in Tower Hamlets reject you for that
English

@PeterBradshaw1 I do not agree with that assessment. It's not a 'great' film but a worthy study of Mumbai life.
English

@PeterBradshaw1 Very concerned (in taking your advice) when you give anything 5 stars these days.

My review of the re-release of Before Sunrise (1995) (dir. Richard Linklater) is up here: theguardian.com/film/2025/jan/…
English

@PeterBradshaw1 Bizarre fella you are. 5 stars "Masterpiece" review for that saccharine-infused, worth-less effort, A Real Pain (not to mention Glad II) and then remind us all that, on occassion you do have some good taste. I think you're pulling my leg.
English

My review of the double-bill re-release of Stray Dog (1949) (dir. Akira Kurosawa) and High And Low (1963) (dir. Akira Kurosawa) is up here: theguardian.com/film/2025/jan/…

Guardian review of My Stolen Planet. A heartfelt documentary that has many significant qualities-shot often in haste but edited with a serene style, only 3 stars & 5 stars for Eisenberg's terrible A Real Pain theguardian.com/film/2025/jan/…

@MichaelBerkele2 @BBCRadio3 Listened, as I do mostly on Sunday's. I've always rated your presentational voice but Dava is the first guest I have heard mention the same. Unfortunately 'Sounds' do not play the full programme, so (for me) if I miss it I then miss a certain nuance.
English

Dava Sobel, writer of best selling Longitude and books on Galileo, Copernicus and Marie Curie, brings Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn to Private Passions at noon @BBCRadio3

English

@PeterBradshaw1 I'll go see this, but as a reviewer you've gone completely off-kilter. Someone I used to have more trust in.
English

My review of A Complete Unknown (dir. James Mangold) is up here: theguardian.com/film/2024/dec/…
English

@PeterBradshaw1 Brilliant Artist. Even his lesser works are better than A Real Pain and Gladiator II. Go figure.
English

Some thoughts on the late David Lynch: theguardian.com/film/2025/jan/…
English

@PeterBradshaw1 Two recent reviews of yours; Gladiator II & A Real Pain (really, a pain). Initially I liked the first Glad, but then after repeated viewings saw it as a lengthy advert! The second, some shocking performances in a film that makes Chopin (no poignancy here) appear to sound boring.

@Martina @Joellambert Pity it has to be latinised (cis) in order to give it some cudos. Biological Males should steer well clear of spaces reserved for women. Simples.
English

@Joellambert Nope. Our problem is with males, however they might identify. And the more they insist on their “right” to come into women’s spaces, the more they should stay out. Many trans respect this. Watch out for the ones who don’t.
English

@BBCRadio3 Thanks. I really cannot bare a whole piece! Mercifully that's what I need when confronted with morning Art; segments. We can always rely on you & that little dear @classicjacko. Thank you @BBCRadio3 thank you.

@bbc5live Another Arsenal fan (James) who I would not share a drink with, even though I am an Arsenal fan.
English

@jk_rowling @IndiaWilloughby I have no idea who @IndiaWilloughby is and I have been to India on multiple occasions! Anyway, I feel some sort of gratitude.
English

The thing is, @IndiaWilloughby, I really do enjoy cigars, whisky and facing down totalitarians, so by the same arguments that make you a woman, I am indeed Winston Churchill.
