Kind of wild to see so many folks proposing microservices again because “Rails can’t scale”
I thought we got past this… but goes to show that heavily funded companies can paper over huge migration costs. All that engineering time to declare victory with a blog post & a promo.

Counterpoint: Java (Scala) microservices we’re an absolute nightmare for us at Twitter as we migrated off Ruby on Rails. Much of the complexity that Elon mentioned after he bought the company was from this architecture.

My self chosen job title of "coder" has been replaced with an uneditable "Software Engineer". The stolen valor of job titles. When someone calls themself a software engineer, I think "why do you need to tell me to take you seriously?" and assume they're new or not very skilled.
