@zhaabowekwe @Wind_and_ghosts Unfunded liabilities like prefunded pensions (which no other gov org but us is required to do by law) and the healthcare benefits provided to all employees (including retirees) bears the brunt of our financial pitfalls
Fix healthcare and the pensions and it’s likely we’ll be ok
English

@zhaabowekwe @Wind_and_ghosts Currently working for them, it’s not a bad thing we get no tax dollars. Funding from the services we provide means we operate even during a full gov’t shutdown, we still get paid, and vital medications for veterans and those in rural areas are still delivered on a daily basis
English

A service we pay for. With our tax dollars.
We already don’t have healthcare, higher education, family leave, etc. alongside dated, crumbling transportation, plastic food, and unlimited bombs.
So now mail too?
delulu@welchmeyer
guys we do NOT want USPS privatized… it’s a public service benefitting everyone

@LuxuriantEther @froglet80 And repeated (even mild) covid infections have been shown to reduce the regenerative capacity of lung cells.
English

@LuxuriantEther @froglet80 Covid has the potential to exhaust your immune system to where you’re more susceptible to illness in the future from other illnesses, so kinda yeah.
English

hey class, what's that cool acronym for when a virus eats all your t cells and makes ya get all this other weird shit? i forgot
Stephanie deGiorgio@DrSdeG
Is anyone going to discuss what happened to our T and B cells thanks to Covid? Will this be what makes the medical profession wake up? This is not weird niche conspiracy theory stuff BTW.
English

@froglet80 It’s been a bit since I’ve brushed up research
I know much of the initial impact that COVID had when it came around in 2020, but I haven’t kept up with long covid. If you have some resources I could use I’d love to take a look at them
English

@froglet80 AIDS
Knowing there’s an immune deficiency component to COVID combined with the rise in antivax dogma though, shit like this was gonna happen.
It happening at a uni though is at least a positive cause they’ll (hopefully) make this a case study

@vcrqueenjen PO Box PO Box PO Box
Replace the mailing address for your insurance with it ASAP, protect your real address

@FightForAUnion Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night shall stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. 🫡 📬
English

@FearlessWisco @FightForAUnion Send it Certified Mail, restricted delivery
Only that person. And that person alone can sign for and receive it.
English

On the flip side, they will only deliver to places that have addresses on file. I tried to mail out something across the state and was told they couldn’t deliver to the physical address I wanted because it wasn’t the companies arranged address. Like I know. I need it to go to a specific person in a specific department at a specific place. Had to go to UPS and they would deliver no problem.
English

@pagerdude @welchmeyer Nevermind much of our rising costs are due to our pre-funded pensions and health benefits plans. Tackling the cost of healthcare with a single payer system would benefit the USPS (and everyone else in the US) greatly.
English

@pagerdude @welchmeyer It’s not undercutting. It’s a mandate.
We are mandated by law to deliver to every single address in the country.
Should we not deliver to your address because you are not profitable enough to include in a route? Forcing you to pay even more just so you get an Amazon delivery?
English

@lnfad @welchmeyer iirc there’s still a carrier tasked with delivering via pack mule in Havasupai lmao
English

@welchmeyer The problem with private is that USPS is the only entity that was willing and responsible for delivering mail to even the most rural areas. A private company will never do that because it makes no sense to do that from a profit standpoint. Mail access however is a basic necessity
English

@pagerdude @welchmeyer Not to mention the small businesses who we provide cheaper shipping and handling for anything they could send to anyone in the country. That’s why Amazon, UPS, and for a while FedEx was giving us stuff to deliver for them as a last-mile option.
English

@pagerdude @welchmeyer Mail carrier here, serving a nursing home
The amount of life-saving meds I deliver on a daily basis is bonkers, but it’s done 6 days a week, every week
We get $0 in federal funding, meaning we work even under a full gov’t shutdown.
English

@JELDWEN quit putting your fucking stickers on the face of the fucking doors. It’s such a pain in the cock to get it off. Do better.

English

@JennaFights4You Probably right
I’d think it’d be geared more toward polarization; posts with 50/50 ratios would probably be prioritized by the algo because conflict generates clicks imo
English

This is such a bad idea. It's going to turn this site into Truth Social.
So, there won't be any point in being on here.
Academics, journalists, politicians, intellectuals, etc
They are all going to find a different platform.
Because if whatever they post gets auto-downvoted by haters and idiots, and kicked from the algorithm, then there is no point in being on here.
