Seriously, ppl CAN'T AFFORD FOOD & RENT, & Canadians are still blaming it on unhoused ppl?! I met homeless children who had to either live with sexual predators (bc family units are not affordable), or live outside until they can be allowed into a shelter. & yes, some did drugs.

@guyfelicella They mostly don't want to be housed though. They are addicted and can't think straight. They don't need drugs provided by the liberal government and paid for by the tax payers. That's got to be the stupidest idea ever by a liberal politician. And they do stupid shit all the time.

Give them hard data that conflicts with their feelings- USians get upset because they would rather feel safe than be safe. Make the tools they ask for more affordable, as they ask- USians get upset because they aren't free, and some people still can't buy them. Give them the tools for free- USians get upset because you are implying that they can't afford things. Do things that have nothing to do with them- USians get upset that you are doing things, and not everyone can do things. At a certain point, you just have to stop taking the perpetually aggrieved seriously. They have no intention of helping in any way or being anything but an obstacle.

this happened at dow a plant in freeport when i was in elementary school. the district that didnt have enough busses for everyone being busses to begin with, piled us in standing packed like sardines and then started using private vehicles to evacuate us. pickup truck beds, the local ice cream man (yeah i know it still sends me), the county sheriff prison bus was involved.... wild day for a 9 yr old.

Not being like "oh it's so easy to not order out" just that dumplings are an often overlooked, easy, nutritious, kid-friendly meal. The prep is often done as a group months ahead as a "dumpling party", you can have like 5-10 people over to socialize and drink beer while doing it, and everyone takes home trays to freeze. It also lets you sneak prepped meals to friends you know are on a tight budget. Since everyone takes stacks of dumplings home, no one loses face since they aren't singled out, and you can sort of bury ingredient cost in the shuffle or with some creative math.

@poppy_haze @halomancer1 Frozen pork and bokchoy dumplings are almost nutritionally complete and have a good macro profile. Store bought or prepped for a bit healthier. Steam or airfry. Can even microwave if you aren't picky.

I feel like store-bought produce has gone way down in quality in the last 5 years. The lettuce is wilted and small, tomatoes are flavorless, celery floppy, and the fruit is often moldy. What happened?!

mostly they cant cook because they dont have time between 3 jobs, and can't afford to make mistakes to learn, and/or live in an efficiency with nothing but a hotplate

Why are young adults saying they can’t cook food? The instructions are usually on the pack. Pasta and basic tomato/veg sauce is fine. Boil an egg, FFS. Fry a chicken breast. Learn to use salt and butter. That’s mostly why you think you can’t cook like your favourite Uber Eats.

MY STUDENT TEACHER QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL DAY. A parent sent 14 emails overnight because their son got a zero after turning in a completely blank test. Admin asked her if she had tried “building a relationship” before giving consequences. She left her classroom lanyard on the desk and never came back. The part that really got me was watching admin apologize to the parent before even asking to see the test. Nobody in that meeting cared that the page was completely blank. The entire conversation was about “repairing trust.”
