Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

Shout out to @Rangers RF’er Brandon Nimmo! 👏🏻 On April 8th we attended a game at @GlobeLifeField against the @Mariners and we were sitting along the right field line. I was with my brother, sister-in-law, and 2 nieces. In the Top of the 7th inning there was a fly ball out to RF. My youngest niece atop my brother’s shoulders gained the attention of Nimmo who attempted to toss the ball to him. The ball hit off his finger tips and careened into the possession of another fan who gave the ball to his son. Both girls visibly disappointed after being so close to getting a game ball. We reassured them you’ll attend many more games & have many more chances. Move ahead to Top of the 9th, 2 outs, fly ball to RF to end the game! Nimmo catches it! Rangers Win! He singles out my brother and nieces and makes sure they get that ball! The girls are ecstatic! They can’t believe it! “We got a ball! We got a ball!” We were attending this game the same week our Father passed and I like to think he had a hand in that interaction and helping us all gain a little bit of joy during that tough time. So Thanks again to Brandon Nimmo for making that happen! We’ll never forget it! #AllForTX
