Don't trust anything I say here, or at least trust it as much as you feel you should trust an anonymous account with a made up name and AI generated photo(s). I'm incredibly honest in real life, but have the urge to tell a few 'changed to protect' stories while I'm still here.

Let's all laugh at Reform. Something to amuse us over the weekend: Umesh Kumar tried to stand as a Reform UK candidate in Heston West and as a Liberal Democrat candidate in Heston East in the May 2026 Hounslow Borough election. He was nominated as a Lib Dem candidate in Heston East AND also as Reform UK candidate in the neighbouring Heston West. Mandy Skinner, the LB Hounslow Chief Executive, who is the Returning Officer for the borough council elections, ruled that he was validly nominated to run in two wards. But as candidates are not allowed to run in two wards he was required to withdraw from one. As Mr Kumar has failed to withdraw from one of the two wards, the Returning Officer ruled that he has withdrawn from both wards. So yeah. Both Reform and The Lib Dems are -1 on their list of candidates for the upcoming May Council Elections. 😂 hounslow.gov.uk/downloads/file… hounslow.gov.uk/downloads/file…

@TiceRichard Given how many of your Kent councillors have left in just one year, what would you suggest people do if they want a Reform councillor? Thinking one step ahead and predicting who'll be in Reform a year from now actually sounds sensible.

@Steven_Swinford @daisyeastlake In fact, this presents a pretty good opportunity to judge us. Can we find common ground, treat each other with respect and be the adults at the table? Being in a cult is easy. Governing is tough. 2/

@Steven_Swinford @daisyeastlake Steven, obviously in a party where more than half the members are new, there's debate. I'm sure every party gets a bit nervous about it, but this feels like a pretty good time to have those discussions. We really do contain multitudes. 1/

Exclusive from @daisyeastlake Zack Polanski has been warned that he faces a generational divide and risks alienating older environmentalists in the Green Party by focusing on younger far-left activists The Green Party leader made a conscious effort on Thursday, at the launch of his local election campaign, to thank long-term members who backed the party “before it was cool” Senior Greens are concerned that he risks putting off the party’s traditional core, especially in more rural areas, by focusing too heavily on issues such as trans rights and Gaza The party has enjoyed a wave of new support since Polanski became leader in September and began to focus heavily on the party’s more socially liberal politics. More than half of voters aged between 18 and 24 would vote Green in a general election, according to the latest YouGov polling But some senior Greens have warned Polanski risks taking confidence on the environment for granted. One said the party needs to be “more vocal” about environmental issues to keep some voters on side thetimes.com/article/9308dc…

@Luis_Cook1 @breadandposes No Reform seat in Kent is safe. Luckily for them, they're on track for every single councillor to leave the party before the next election, so they'll be able to claim someone else lost.

@breadandposes Last result in Cliftonville was: Reform 40% Labour 22% Tories 20% Greens 12% Lib Dem 3% Independent 3% Even if they do far better with Labour voters than Reform does with Tories, it should still be pretty safe.

@mariab999 @BritainVotesNow I'd also add that of course you don't intimidate the tellers. You don't stand too close. You let them get on with their job. There's a huge amount of respect for the staff.

@mariab999 @BritainVotesNow The other purpose of course is to do a rough count of the votes yourself by seeing which piles they're put in.

The count for the Cliftonville by-election is underway. Reform are looking to hold this seat after their incumbent councillor was jailed. Contenders are seeking to capitalise on the local reputational damage this incident has had on the incumbent party. Stay tuned for the result.

At the Cliftonville By-election this morning. Some are calling this a Referendum on Reforms first year at KCC..... Declaration expected in the next hour or so.

@hol40900 Not sure what you're referring to. I'm a Green member / supporter, so definitely interested, but I honestly am not sure what you're referring to. Apart from the chaos bit, but I'm not sure that's down to Paul Webb individually.

Reform held this seat. But Reform's deputy dodged tax, took crypto cash, and left Kent council in chaos. Greens are surging (200k+ members, 21% in polls). Time to turn Cliftonville green. Vote Green on Thursday! 💚 #VoteGreen
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

"Mr Polanski’s appearance on eve of the poll for the Cliftonville division at Kent County Council is another clear sign of how seriously the party is taking the contest." This was a Reform seat. Taking them on here is a big ask. Vote Green on Thursday! kentonline.co.uk/thanet/news/gr…

We're not going to travel beyond the solar system, according to Leonard Susskind. And neither are aliens, coming to visit us. We may not be alone, but we are stuck here for, essentially forever. 1. The nearest star is 4.24 light years away. The fastest spacecraft ever built would require 6,600 years to get there. 2. Surely we can just build faster spacecraft. The problem is to get to anywhere close to the speed of light, we need exponentially more energy. 3. Chemical rockets will just not work. Even fusion rockets won't work. Even 10% of the speed of light is not achievable. The Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation prevents it. 4. Interstellar dust becomes hand grenades when traveling anywhere close to the speed of light. Ships break. 5. Space radiation will kill us over the time need to travel interstellar distances. Impossible to protect without massive shields, which require massive energy to accelerate and de-accelerate.

@TxiKeano @maxtempers Oh, just to add, I'm not saying our core policies would change, or that I'd want that. I think you jumped to that conclusion because you're surprised by the policy. Also, I have no interest or the necessary expertise to change this particular policy.

Are the Greens actually extreme? Have people just been lying about them? Do they REALLY want totally open borders? Let's have a look at their updated migration policy. 🧵

@TxiKeano @DanWilkoLab @ChiefDilettante @maxtempers Of course, there are some things that the party can do to stop 'entryism', a piece of political gobbledigook that I hate. However, the party has to be welcoming and inclusive towards its new members. 3/
