Today I had a long chat with this officer who leaves the Met in a months time. She has 9 years in & a wealth of skills. She enjoys the streets & was being forced into a role she didn't want. Her exit?? interview by an inspector was dismissive. A major UK company snapped her up. What a waste.

Deep condolences to the family. This was a tragic error. 💔 But, response officers take note. Make mistakes and they will nail you to the wall. The courts don’t have your back. Do not drive at speed to incidents, no matter how urgent they seem, until you have protection in law.

Leavitt: I saw that letter from Congressman Raskin this morning, who I would add has zero credibility. And this letter was clearly a cheap political stunt. What the congressman did here, Brian, and for everyone in the room who's hopefully not reporting on this as fact, is that he took untrue and salacious claims in a memo that was produced by Jack Smith, who has been completely discredited for his lawfare and his witch hunts against this president. And that information was unverified. It never even made it into the indictment because it was so unverified. And what happened to that indictment anyway? It was thrown out. And Jack Smith has been proven again to be a prosecutor on a witch hunt against President Trump. He tried to throw him in jail ahead of the 2024 election. The Biden department of justice was fully on board with this lawfare campaign. And in fact, this story that was concocted by Congressman Raskin was so ridiculous, I understand his communications team reached out to some outlets in this room who responsibly said, we're not going to write this because this is just too much. However, of course, MSNOW did write that story this morning because they continue to be left wing propaganda for the Democrat party. But I think Jack Smith has been proven to be a liar and a fraud. It was good to catch up with many familiar faces today at the Al Quds protests; BUT it was also depressing; there was concern that those left behind on borough because of abstractions, were woefully & dangerously understaffed. One officer, 10 years in, told me she enjoys her job but each day she goes to work she is worried that she could make a mistake which could finish her career. That view was echoed by others. All agree the bad cops needed to go but that there is now a witch-hunt which is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

To quote an unnamed mounted police source. "I can go back to a borough and do what they do, its where I started, but how many cops on borough can turn up and ride a horse or do any other specialist role when they are needed; they can't". Met to cut their horses to just 40, from a heyday of 200 and they were effective and in uncertain political and social time they remain so. Just how many specialist officers are being put back to boroughs to fill a gap and what will be the cost to the public when those lost skills are needed.

35 years ago today I was severely injured in the IRA bomb explosion at London Victoria Station. There is not a day go by when I don’t think of David Corner, who was killed in the explosion. My prayers this Ash Wednesday are for David’s family and all those who were injured with me on that terrible.

The famous final scene of 'The Long Good Friday' (1980) was the first scene to be shot. Director John MacKenzie, who was driving, told Bob Hoskins the story and events of the movie to come and filmed Hoskins's reactions. Cinematographer Phil Meheux sat between the driver and passenger seat with a one thousand foot magazine attached to the camera and filmed continuously until it ran out. As there was no room to properly light Hoskins in the interior of the car, Mehuex used a fifty watt light bulb (plugged into the cigarette lighter) placed on the end of the camera's matte box. Even though it appears that Pierce Brosnan (In his first movie role) and Bob Hoskins share a car, neither actor was present when the other was captured in close-up (they each worked on a separate night), so Brosnan and Hoskins never did get to work with one another throughout the shoot. Last night scum stole the statue of my Grandfather Teddy Baldock Britain's youngest ever World Boxing Champion. The statue was unveiled outside the Langdon Park DLR Station in Poplar, East London. Years of work and a stunning work of art by the sculptor, the late Carl Payne will be sold for scrap and melted down. Please retweet in case we can recover it.
