On the way to my wedding, my mom—an ER nurse with 35+ years of experience—was the first on the scene of a crash. In her dress and gloves, she held a woman’s airway open, directing EMS and officers with steady hands. Witnesses called her “the woman in the pretty dress saving a life.” Hours later, she walked me down the aisle, blood-free but glowing with courage. @aliciaandrz I’m a newly retired teacher. When I first started teaching we didn’t have these drills. I don’t remember when they started exactly, but I can still remember that day, sitting on the floor in the dark with my 6th graders and crying bc I couldn’t believe this was our reality.

my kid did an active shooter drill at school & her beloved gym teacher showed them the places to hide & told them, “I’ll do everything I can to keep you safe.” when she told me about it she paused & said, “mommy, who will keep Coach Patrick safe?”
& my heart broke—for all of us.

I’ve been paralyzed when it comes to work lately & my book proofs were due back Friday. that evening I told my copy-editor husband I was going to miss the deadline & he went & got his computer & sat with me making corrections until it was done.
I’ve definitely got a partner.

@aliciaandrz I try to go for a walk every day. I tell myself that I just have to go around the block and I can come home. Inevitably, the walk is a lot longer but that little trick gets me out the door!

the way I get myself to go to exercise classes is I give myself permission to half ass it, just lie on the floor if I want. getting in the door counts.
then, of course, I’m too embarrassed to just lie on the floor so I do it. begrudgingly.

those of you who’ve followed me for a while know I got 2 years of sobriety then relapsed during a major depressive episode. I thought I wouldn’t be alive much longer, so it didn’t matter.
I’ve been struggling ever since but I’m proud to say today is two weeks sober. we carry on.

When we were kids, blizzards meant Grandpa and Dad dumping jars of change on the table.
We’d line the pennies up by year and build a century out of copper.
Today I told Harry about it this morning
He was locked in for hours and almost filled 100 years.

@DOEChancellor @NYCSchools How do students not have devices in February?!? Remote Learning is the choice for emergencies (weather and other). All students should have had devices since September!

Remote learning remains an important tool and can be effective as we saw with last month’s storm, however despite our best efforts to distribute devices throughout the weekend, we couldn't be 100% certain that every student had access to the devices they need for remote learning.

NYT video analysis is pretty definitive. He was out of the path of the vehicle when he fired, the tires were clearly turned to the right, and the President and others are relying on the poorest quality clip to argue he was struck by the vehicle. He wasn’t.
