🚨🇺🇸🇻🇪🇷🇺 U.S. TRIES TO SEIZE VENEZUELAN OIL TANKER, SO RUSSIA RESPONDS WITH A SUBMARINE You thought this was just about oil? It’s now a full-on naval showdown. The U.S. is actively trying to seize the Marinera, a Russian-flagged tanker (formerly Bella 1) carrying sanctioned Venezuelan oil, and Moscow is not having it. Now, Russia has deployed a submarine to escort the tanker off the Venezuelan coast, in what looks like a direct challenge to U.S. naval enforcement. So, to recap: - The U.S. raids Venezuela, takes out Maduro, and claims 30–50M barrels of oil. - China is furious. - Russia steps in to block further seizures with military hardware. If the U.S. seizes the Marinera, it sends a message that American sanctions now come with force. If Russia stops it, it signals that they’re willing to fight, literally, to protect their stake in the region. We’re no longer talking about embargoes and backdoor deals, this is open confrontation on the high seas, with oil, power, and global alliances all on the line. Sources: Reuters, @sentdefender, WSJ

This dog's name was Gunner. My uncle brought him back from WW2. He was raised and slept under my uncle's anti- aircraft gun. The gun crew shared their rations to feed him. By the time he was 18 months old, my uncle said he would stand up and look at the sky. If he laid back down they knew all was ok. If he growled and put his hackles up they got at the ready. He knew the sound of the German aircraft and my uncle said he never got it wrong. He said Gunner was better than any early warning system. I'm probably the only one left in the family that knows that story now, so I thought I'd tell it before it's lost forever, like many stories must be from that time. Thanks for reading it.

Omere @maxvayshia, I honestly have to disagree with you on this. The Yoruba have been the second biggest victims of this forced unity called Nigeria. They have lost more politically, socially, and culturally than any other major ethnic group. In truth, the Yoruba are the primary force holding this fragile union together. If, for example, the alleged coup plot against President Tinubu had succeeded, we would almost certainly be in a full-scale civil war right now—because the Yoruba would fight back fiercely. Do not mistake political restraint for cowardice. The only reason there has been no massive reaction or reprisals to attacks on Yoruba and her interests is precisely because there is a Yoruba presidency. We saw the same dynamic between 1999 and 2004: Yoruba will defend Yoruba when political obstacles are removed. After being betrayed repeatedly—by allies, by the system, by other groups—no one should expect the Yoruba to trust blindly. If the Yoruba choose to put their own people first, what exactly is the problem with that? Does self-preservation make them disloyal or dishonest? Power is what matters in Nigeria. This is a country of raw survival, where every group is fighting to dominate or avoid being dominated. If you don’t protect your own, you will be suppressed. On religious and tribal tolerance, the Yoruba remain the most accommodating in Nigeria. It is extremely rare to find a Hausa/Fulani or Igbo family where the father is Muslim and the mother Christian (or vice versa), yet such mixed-faith marriages are commonplace among Yoruba. That level of tolerance is unique. Your analogy falls apart when you look at the rest of the country: the South-South is riddled with internal rivalries and violence; the South-East openly seeks exit; the North pushes to control and dominate; the Middle Belt fights daily for survival against encroachment. In reality, the Yoruba are the only major group still genuinely invested in keeping Nigeria together. So no—the Yoruba are neither cowardly nor disloyal. They are simply playing the same game everyone else is playing, while carrying the heaviest burden of this contrived unity.
Maxvayshia™@maxvayshia

If the whole of Nigeria finally decided to drop all tribal and religious biases and come together in unity to enforce a better Nigeria, the Yorubas and the West would be the only problem cos amongst all ethnic groups, they are the most cowardly, power-serving, kowtowing tribe, in addition to being dishonest towards themselves and one another. They wouldn’t be loyal to the course.
