Did some Samba enabling on Linux today and learned how to do directory permissions command line style. It's a big step for a Windows softie.... 👍

I've seen many reports, but nothing like the new @IPCC_CH climate report, an atlas of human suffering & damning indictment of failed climate leadership. I know people everywhere are anxious & angry. I am, too. It's time to turn rage into #ClimateAction. ipcc.ch/report/ar6/wg2/

Look what the UK government slipped under the table while we were distracted. There's a very good reason why neonicotinoid pesticides should never be used in agriculture. They are devastating to a wide range of life. theguardian.com/environment/20…

A trans woman in Kyiv told me: “I am a woman, but I have ‘male’ in my passport and on all my ID, so this is a war within a war. Ukrainian trans people were already fighting for their lives.” “There are hundreds of us stuck like this. We need help."

Tomorrow the IPCC will publish a report setting out the genuinely terrifying scale and reach of the climate impacts already underway and coming down the line. At the same time governments across Europe will continue to scramble to develop tactics that can assist Ukraine.

@RMCRetro The graphic shows that the wind is specifically avoiding the cave, the red zone skirts around it.

I did a poll on extinction. I was not sure what to expect, but I am sure I did not expect 30% of my followers think that our current path leads to extinction. My impression is that this would not be the consensus among 'mainstream' climate scientists (eg IPCC), so why 30% yes?

PLEASE READ. NOTHING SURPASSES THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS: This is the draft Cop26 agreement: unfccc.int/sites/default/… It has actually taken my breath away. I was expecting something pretty dire. I’ve been warning for months that it would be pretty dire. But this! Even I am shocked.

@hqqns @MEGA65Retro The last few years I've been planning to buy one and run a BBS, but the final price tag was quite a shock... so that dream is on hold - probably permanently.

@bethsawin @giulio_mattioli @Klimaatzuster Specifically, NFTs will revolutionise property rights in favour of individuals - with early adoption in developing countries. Unlike Bitcoin, third-generation digital currencies are orders of magnitude more energy efficient than legacy financial systems.

@bradsprojects I was actually thinking of #digirule 3 (longside any other possible updates to the 2U in the future). A couple of 7 segment displays would be amazing for teaching binary and hexadecimal interactively. But they would have to be very low profile to not spoil the ruler.

@isedwards It's not something I've given much thought to, to be honest. Which version of the #digirule are you referring to - 1 or 2?

@bradsprojects are you likely to ever add a couple of low-profile 7-segment displays to the digirule?
