A reminder: British Mandate Palestine was all of modern Israel, Jordan, and the Golan Heights. The British traded the Golan away to the French (who controlled what is now Syria), then cleaved off almost 80% and gave it to Hussein bin Ali (who renamed it Jordan) for supporting their efforts against the Ottoman Turks and traded away the Golan to the French. Prior to the British Mandate, all of Syria/Israel/Lebanon/Jordan was Ottoman Syria ( and Israel/Jordan was South Syria). There was no "Palestine" except as a regional descriptor used by Europeans, who continued to use Roman nomenclature for places since all of Europe was part of the Roman Empire.
