A federal judge in Oregon blocked Kroger’s $24.6 billion acquisition of grocery rival Albertsons on Tuesday, marking the possible end of what would have been the largest supermarket merger in U.S. history. washingtonpost.com/business/2024/…

@jennykleeman Yes, those are the stories I referenced -- the ones that aggregated mine and credited my piece and linked to it.

@jackiepeiser I actually read the story first in the New York Post, which began with Reissa’s DNA test. I saw that it has been reported in The Sun, and, briefly, The Times of London, with the focus on the test as well. As I said before, that’s the narrative framing of my radio series.

Episode 3 of the Gift, out tomorrow wherever you listen to podcasts, is about how a present of a DNA test revealed how six babies were systematically born to be sold in Canada in the 1950s thetimes.com/magazines/the-…

@jennykleeman This story was not a matter of public record. This was a one I learned about through a family friend. One of the siblings told me you said you were reaching out because you read their story in WaPo. The bare minimum would have been to give me credit for publishing first.

@jennykleeman I appreciate you saying that. But I am shocked to see how there is no link or acknowledgement that I broke this story. The pieces that were done since mine came out were aggregations of my story in the days that followed it being published. Nothing to the extent of this.

@jennykleeman You know what would have been the right and collegial thing to a fellow journalist? To not copy a story she worked on for THREE years almost line for line and still not even give her credit or link to her story. This includes family tree and PORTRAITS that we commissioned.

The potential union of parent companies Kroger and Albertsons could be the largest grocery store merger in U.S. history. However, the FTC filed a lawsuit earlier this year to stop the deal, arguing it would “eliminate competition.” @LisaDnews spoke with @jackiepeiser for more.

WAMU is supposedly shuttering DCist to focus on audio, but among the talented employees getting the axe is the most experienced, accomplished audio journalist at the station. These decisions are senseless and the purported reasoning shows a lack of respect for us all
Jacob Fenston@JacobFenston

I was one of the journalists laid of at @wamu885 today. I've had a great time covering local environmental issues in D.C. for the past 7ish years, plus 5 more years producing and reporting audio at the station.
