The State Department for Trade is keen on leveraging Kenya’s diplomatic missions abroad to expand trade relations and unlock new export opportunities for Kenyan products. Principal Secretary for Trade Regina Ombam today held talks with Consul General at the Kenya Embassy in Dubai Jayne Toroitich on strengthening Kenya’s commercial diplomacy and trade ties with the UAE and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The meeting explored ways of boosting Kenyan exports and enhancing the country’s commercial presence in the region, while underscoring the role of Commercial Attachés in promoting Kenya’s exports. The engagements focused on the broader welfare of Kenyans in Botswana and the United Arab Emirates(UAE). The meeting follows the recently concluded 19th Ambassadors' Conference held in Nairobi.

The diaspora and the diplomatic community are distinct and gendered. The PS, State Department of Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline Njogu engaged the female diplomats in sharing their unique experiences and explored the adaptable balancing strategies

Spoke on phone with H.E Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability of the United Arab Emirates this evening. He apprised me on the gravity of the situation in the region, and in particular the repercussions of IRGC’s unjustified attacks of critical infrastructure of GCC countries on not only civilian security, but economic and environmental security of the Globe. I conveyed to him Kenya’s solidarity- in line with President Ruto’s well stated position on this matter- and assured him of our readiness to work with the UAE to respond through diplomatic means to this escalating situation. @ForeignOfficeKE

Dr. Monica Juma, celebrating her appointment to the United Nations and marking the opening of the 19th Ambassadors’ Conference. The evening brought together members of diplomatic corps, government and non-state actors, and partners in a moment of connection and reflection. The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, welcomed the appointment, noting it affirms global confidence in Kenya’s leadership in multilateralism. I take this opportunity to congratulate Monica Juma on her appointment as the Executive Director of UNODC and Director General of UN Office in Vienna.
