@glenscrivener @SimonPo51223063 This sort of thinking and language also seems to reduce the moral responsibility of people to act in loving ways or to be present with their family members. It’s also very self centric. My chemical balance. I find it all a bit chilling when we have an epidemic of absentee fathers

@SimonPo51223063 C) speaking neuro-chemically divorces our behaviour from, eg, moral considerations. "I delighted to spend time with my children, then I got angry at them" involves interpersonal and moral considerations which are absent from "I got an oxytocin peak followed by a cortisol rush."

OK science friends (and others), what am I missing?
I watch these neuro-chemical "explanations" for behaviour and I scratch my head. I mean, I'm glad for extra levels of observation — do all the brain scans you like. But the language of "reason" and "cause" seems so overblown.

@JoelWBerry Also Paul was very concerned with justice and behavior. It’s like he saw some complex long sentences in the epistles and figured this guy was the theologian while Jesus was the pithy moralist. Jesus was hugely theological.

@Rob_NBF First thing I did once the kids were safely birthed and my wife was comfy was rip my shirt off for the first skin on skin cuddle with my new kiddo. Amazing to bond with your new baby like that, nothing weird or creepy in sight.

While my wife was getting stitched up, this helped my newborn kids feel safe and bond with me (prior to that I was just a voice, a voice they recognised now as I held them and spoke to them)
