@jpc0mps @guzmanpintos I did not know about on-die temps. So temp readings on S21 (Gamma) is quite accurate then?
English

@guzmanpintos @SatStackingPleb ^ this is the answer. The threshold voltage of the transistors shift as temp changes. Keep in mind, temps on most Bitmain FW/Boards is an est of the die temps as they use a lm75 on the board + offset. If you really want to see take a look at a BM1368(S21) which has on-die temps

@SatStackingPleb @altair_tech @ePICBlockchain Can't wait for you to try, let me know if you have any questions

@skot9000 @kevinaltairtech @denverbitcoin @CryptoMinerCHR @ndgo1370 @zbomstaz I know @guzmanpintos and LuxOS has previewed the amount of data/samples required to build an accurate model

The APW17 introducing accurate power reading over the PSU protocol was a welcome addition
Guzman Pintos@guzmanpintos
Working on improving LuxOS power estimator.
English

@skot9000 @kevinaltairtech @denverbitcoin @CryptoMinerCHR @ndgo1370 @zbomstaz You can go all the way down the rabbit hole here..but to keep it simple. APW12 doesn't have any current reading capabilities exposed so when we do power estimation in ePIC FW (and most other FWs) we do a power estimation based around 3 variables (Voltage, Freq and Temp)
English

@SatStackingPleb @denverbitcoin @CryoByteLabs @braiins @luxor very doable. you'll prob be touching ~1000W but that should be ok at 120V
English

@denverbitcoin My goal is to get a single S19J Pro to 40T on 120V and quiet with the new @CryoByteLabs block.
I'll try @braiins BCB100 and @luxor OS on AML in my testing.
English

@keegreil @SatStackingPleb @ePICBlockchain @altair_tech @zbomstaz I like @SatStackingPleb idea of enabling you to set the bounds, unfortunately without control of the PSU won't do much, but will help with the tuning algos internally and speed them up for sure
English

@keegreil @SatStackingPleb @ePICBlockchain @altair_tech @zbomstaz We wanted to be on the safer side and make sure that the setting wasn't accidentally enabled for miners running at scale in a normal environment, but this is a good time to revisit this.

Finally completed the packet audit! I can confirm that once the ePIC UMC is mining, it only tries to contact:
1. My DATUM node
2. An NTP time server periodically
I think #2 is leftover from whatever Arch/STM32 Linux they're using for the firmware.
j/p@jpc0mps
@keegreil no dev-fee, no phoning home. give the UMC a try. API fully documented and open. Also welcome the packet audit! If theres something that shouldn't be there that we missed will address it.
English

@SatStackingPleb @keegreil @ePICBlockchain @altair_tech Noctuas, if I recall they have a fan splitter in the box, that would prob be my recommendation as it already removes the sense on the second fan.
English

@SatStackingPleb @keegreil @ePICBlockchain @altair_tech you can, just need to be a bit careful. The fan headers are in parallel of each other so if you do want to use the connector you'll want to make sure the SENSE line is disconnected on one of them (FAN1 MOLEX -- FAN1 4pin).
English

I need a couple new control boards for some new single hashboard heater builds. Any recommendations between ePic UMC, Mara's and Braiin's boards?
Must be 100% Dev fee free, and allow fine control of hashrate via API.
Maybe if this gets a lot of interest I will buy all 3 and sniff the network packets with Wireshark to verify no funny business, and share my results of course.

A lot has been cooking over here in addition to our announcement of Passport Prime.
Baby #1 arriving in April!
