DOGE has asked government employees to send five things they did LAST WEEK (boo-hoo). I ask my staff to do this every day—not just five things, but all tasks completed—so everyone knows what's going on, and it cuts down on constant questions, emails, etc. It’s called being efficient (DUH!). Here’s an example from one employee for one day’s work….(and he doesn’t cry about doing it!) -Kid Rock EMPTIED ALL TRASH CHECKED MAIL AND LOCK BOX FED ALL ANIMALS CLEANED STALLS MOVED ------------------- BACK TO CABIN 2 AND REMOVED PROPANE HEATER CHECKED HVAC IN CABIN 2 CHECKED MINI SPLIT IN RUSTY GARAGE AFTER RESETTING IT YESTERDAY, SHOWS FAULT AGAIN. “Some federal employees don’t have access to email on the weekends” “Elon is not their boss” “It’s just plain wrong” “It’s random” “Its abusive” “It’s about control” Keep in mind that all that was asked was “what did you do last week?”. Most people who work in the corporate private sector routinely receive emails like this. I’ve never seen any of these federal employees protesting when private sector employees were asked what they did last week.

@elonmusk Low performers yes, higher performers no. It's unnecessary and not needed. How about a calendar invite and visibility of someone's day to day activities? Think how efficient that is.

That would be a very impressive and long list indeed for you! However, the passing grade is literally just “Can you send an email with words that make any sense at all?”. It’s a low bar.

If any of the hundreds of employees who work for me refused to send a very short email with 5 bullet points and copying their manager, with 48hrs notice (!!) no less, they would no longer be employed. This is not controversial. The unhinged reaction is proof the culture of the federal government workforce is rotten and needs dramatic transformation, not incremental change.

@vol_isback @elonmusk I said NO. I've seen this unproductive and inefficient work done in the workforce. It doesn't work. Managers typically ignore those emails as well unless you're under their radar. A visibility of the employees calendar and an employees schedule may be more efficient.

@elonmusk I've done this before and typically the boss is too busy to even care unless you're on their radar. I say No to this idea. There's a better way.

@elonmusk @realDonaldTrump There's so much more to this. Why not just get access and review someone's calendar and schedule or why not hire someone to take notes of what everyone is doing? I am sure you have an assistant who does this and so does President Trump; an assistant that does this for you. 🤔

Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week. Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.

@elonmusk How about just a calendar invite and visibility of someone's day? I think reporting and micromanaging causes unnecessary work amongst employees. Tell me will you log everything you did for the week or did you hire someone to do that for you? Just a thought
