עשר כותרות משמעותיות מתדרוך של בכירי צה״ל היום לכתבים הצבאיים: 1. צה״ל באזהרה לדרג המדיני: איראן מגיעה חלשה מאוד ומוכה למו״מ - אסור לוותר לה. צה״ל סבור שיש לעמוד על מספר עקרונות במו״מ - חובה להוציא את האורניום המועשר מאיראן, אסור לאפשר לאיראן להעשיר אורניום לצמיתות (ולא רק למספר מוגבל של שנים), ואסור לאפשר הפשרת כספים שתכניס כסף רב למשטר האיראני ותחזק אותו. בצה״ל מעבירים מסר לדרג המדיני - איראן מספיק מוכה כדי להביא הישגים במו״מ המדיני, ואם היא לא תסכים - יהיה אפשר לשוב ולהכות בה - יש עוד עבודה רבה שלא השלמנו באיראן, ובראשה: פגיעה במתקני האנרגיה שלא הותקפו. 2. צה״ל מעריך: אם סוגיית הטילים הבליסטיים לא תטופל במסגרת הסכם - בתוך פרק זמן של שנים ספורות מאוד, איראן תוכל לצבור מחדש אלפי טילים בליסטיים, אם תחליט להשקיע בכך. המשמעות: ייתכן שבעוד מספר שנים מועט, לאיראן יהיה ארסנל טילים שיחייב את ישראל לצאת למערכה נוספת נגדה. 3. גם אחרי המכות הקשות שספגה במערכה, באיראן נותרו צנטריפוגות רבות - ולכן בצה״ל סבורים כי הסוגייה המטרידה ביותר היא הוצאת האורניום המועשר. אם האורניום לא יוצא מאיראן במסגרת הסכם - יש לאיראן את היכולת להעשיר אותו לדרגה צבאית של 90% - ולהתקרב לפצצה. 4. בצה״ל מבהירים: מתחילת הדרך הערכנו בפני הדרג המדיני שהסיכוי להפלת המשטר באיראן נמוך. לא ניתן להפיל משטר בתקיפות מהאוויר - אך יש כיום סדקים ובקיעים במשטר האיראני. 5. איראן שיגרה במערכה בסה״כ כ-1,400 טילים בליסטיים. רק 39% מהם - שוגרו לישראל. היתר - למדינות האזור והמפרץ. אחוזי היירוט של הטילים - 84%, נמוכים יותר מאשר ״עם כלביא״. הסיבה - שימוש איראני נרחב בטילי מצרר, שקשה יותר ליירט. יותר מ-70% מפגיעות הטילים בישראל הן פגיעות של טילי מצרר. 6. צה״ל מעריך את הנזק לתעשיות באיראן בכ-100 מיליארד דולר, וסבור שיידרשו לאיראן מספר שנים לשקמו. צה״ל המליץ לדרג המדיני במהלך המערכה לפגוע גם בתחנות הכוח באיראן - אך הדרג המדיני דחה את ההצעה. 7. צה״ל הטיל במערכה באיראן יותר חימושים כבדים מאשר צבא ארה״ב: 19,000 לעומת 17,000. 8. הסכם הפסקת האש בלבנון: מודל ״הקו הצהוב״ מעזה יועתק גם ללבנון, וצה״ל כבר הגדיר ״קו צהוב״ שעד אליו פועלים כעת כוחות צה״ל. בתוך שטחי הקו הצהוב, יש 55 כפרים לבנונים שהאזרחים לא מורשים לחזור אליהם - וצה״ל רשאי להמשיך ולהשמיד בהם תשתיות טרור גם תוך כדי הפסקת האש. 9. חזבאללה שיגר במערכה בסך הכל כ-8,000 טילים ורקטות. רק כשליש מהם - כ-2,500 - שוגרו לעורף הישראלי, והיתר - כ-5,500 - שוגרו לעבר כוחותינו בדרום לבנון. 75 מהרקטות בלבד פגעו. גם אחוזי יירוט הכטב״מים מרשימים: 92%. 10. צה״ל תומך בהפסקת האש בלבנון ומעריך: יש פוטנציאל לשקט ארוך טווח בלבנון באמצעות הסכם מדיני. כל זאת, בתנאי שצה״ל נשאר בתחומי הקו הצהוב ולא נסוג ממנו, ויוסכם על מנגנון בפיקוח אמריקני שיפרז את דרום לבנון.

@daveweigel He/she is logically incoherent. The iron dome supplied Israel time to calculate its actions **despite** Hamas launching rockets to Israeli towns and cities. This has been going on for many years and October 7th was a monumental massacre that triggered escalation.

The rationale, explained to me by a Dem who wants to stop funding Iron Dome: The defense system makes Israel more aggressive, confident that it can launch operations without much damage to its own cities. (Most Dems are still at "no offensive weapons, missile shield okay.")

UNIFIL counts every Israeli drone crossing into Lebanese territory as a violation of UNSC 1701 - possibly multiple times per drone depending on trajectory. But Hezbollah tunnels filled with rockets count as - one violation each. Even though every weapon, every Hezbollah militant, every gun is a separate violation of 1701. It uses accounting methods to exaggerate Israeli “violations’ and minimize those of Hezbollah. UNIFIL cooks the books.

I believe the death penalty is wrong. But far-right politicians in Israel found a way to make it even more unjust and morally reprehensible: by passing a law that would apply it almost exclusively to Palestinians. This is abhorrent. Anyone involved in carrying out this directive should be sanctioned by the United States government. It is long past time to put our money where our mouth is and impose consequences for the Israeli government’s ongoing occupation of the Palestinian territories and two-tiered system of justice.

Israel could have just rounded up everyone in Gaza, marched them into a field, and executed them. Yes, millions would be dead. But at least there wouldn't be any demolished buildings, which are very important to people who cite demolished buildings as proof of gEnOcIdE. The Iranian govenrment murdered more civilians in two days than Israel did in two years. But we don't have photos because they turned off the internet and didn't demolish any buildings, so it didn't happen.
