This contamination persisted throughout the night of March 11 until 12:00 PM on March 12, 2025. A sanitary officer from Solid Waste Management visited the site, but only to extinguish the remaining embers of the fire. The garbage heap was not removed on the same day, resulting in its subsequent reignition today i.e 13th March, 2026 by an unknown individual. This cycle of burning will likely continue until the garbage heap is removed as a matter of priority. We request that a team be dispatched to remove this garbage heap and that measures be implemented to prevent the dumping of such waste anywhere within the city. Furthermore, we recommend that those responsible for dumping this garbage be subjected to substantial fines. My house help came in today looking really happy. She told me she just bought a 3BHK flat in Surat worth ₹60 lakhs, spent ₹4 lakh on furniture and took only a ₹10 lakh loan. I was honestly shocked.
